The first one was way cool....got to give props to Baldwin for being pro about it and being friendly with her....the second one was pretty dumb (as is standard for SNL these days) but I think Palin came off as less "uptight" than a lot of SNL regulars might have expected her to be. All in all:
Again I am taken aback by her charisma, she is one of those rare [-]politicians[/-] people you just can't help but like. Good on her for being a good sport, it deflated the significance of SNL's (Tina Fey's impersonation) criticism. One other thing, seeing the two side by side I realized that when the TV movie is made Tina Fey has no business playing the Governor, Mariska Hargitay is clearly the choice to star.
The opening skit was pretty good. SNL couldn't, obviously, change up the impression too much without looking ridiculous, nor could they have Baldwin do anything other than what he did, but they managed to poke enough fun at themselves to keep it all in good humor. Palin came off better in that skit than in any interview or speech yet IMO.
I turned it on the first 3 mins and didn't hear anything about her being on or special guest star or anything so I watched something else. Dumbass liberal SNL. I bet they lost many viewers. I thought she cancelled.
This thread was too late for me. I'd already seen Fox News this morning and they told me what to think...
I wasn't especially impressed, since she didn't really do anything, but I still have to give her credit for showing up.
I thought Baldwin left the country when W was elected. Palin came off great in the first sketch. Good sensa humor.
Man, does she get ripped in the press over here. Just watched it and I must disagree with them. I mean she could have handled the first sketch better and not sound so whiny with her 'this is not a good representation ...' - hello, this is comedy! - but in the rap part, well... I can't see what else she could have done. Neutral. Could have been more, could have been far, far worse.
I have no idea. I wouldn't do it with lines written by somebody else. You're not there for the comedy value, you're there to reach lots of people and look somewhat cool.
