Yes, these are The Appalachians. North Georgia is part the southern terminus of the range. As for "where's the ghetto?" If you have to ask, you're not from around here.
Oh wait, that's not my state. That's baba's medication. My state is alright. Good weather, no rain, lots of interesting people, great food, high taxes, next week I get to vote for it to bankrupt itself (just as a troll basically), and a free Mexican for every household.
Tennessee has three distinct regions: 1. Easter Tennessee has beautiful mountains and a rich heritage of good, plain folk (though they were yankee lovers in the civil war). Knoxville is a great city with the University of TN to provide sports enjoyment. The football stadium seats 110,000 people! Yikes! Chattanooga has Rock City, from which you can supposedly see seven states, as well as the Chattanooga Aquarium which is fantastic. It has been copied many times over by bigger cities. The mountains are cool in the summer. They're gorgeous withe great parks and trails and a pace of life that is... well... tempting. 2. Middle Tennessee has Nashville with it's country music, Opryland, and music distribution. It's beautiful in Middle Tennessee. Also, there is Kentucky Lake, which is imo the prettiest lake in the area. Mean Crappie fishing. 3. Western TN, where I live, is horrible. Angry black people are running Memphis into the ground. I think they're trying to get back at whitey?
Well, if you live in Alberta then Idaho isn't all that much different than where you're from, except maybe more mountainous. What's great about Idaho? Potatoes. Definitely potatoes.
Yeah, Idaho is cool. Its like a blurb on the road everytime I go to Washington State. I live in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains. I love it here. Redneck country.
Washington State is cool. Just a short drive to the Canadian border where I live, which is also cool since Canada is fucking great. Huge mountains and dense forest on one side, huge mountains and dense forest on the other side, with arid desert in the middle. Not too shabby.
Yep. I live 30 min from the BC border. Beautiful country back that way. Montana on the other hand.....
When I drove down from Alaska to Phoenix, I went through BC into North Eastern Washington (Colville Indian Reservation area). What I saw, I liked. Then again pretty much the whole trip was beautiful. I even saw a small bear climbing up a steep hill in BC.
Oregon is just about the same way, except with a lot less people, better gun laws and no sales tax. It's an hour drive west to the Pacific Ocean and an hour drive east to the Cascades, where they'll still be skiing in July. Beyond that is the High Desert which has a charm all it's own.
Seems from this thread the most enjoyable places to live are those bordering two different landscapes, such as desert/mountains, forest/valley and a body of water. What do you do for fun there? (Although from the looks of it, many of you spend your waking hours either working or sitting in front of Wordforge. :flow2: )
Hmmm, a Tim Hortons every 500 metres? Decent transit, passable roads... just not for long. Nice walking though... only about 30 minutes to the most ethnicly diverse neighbourhood in the city. Good for groceries and such. Work being 10 feet from my door is nice. As for water, well we've got the lake which is viewable from uptown, and a short ride to. Entertainment, well plenty. THeres a lot in my building, being a community centre of sorts. Clubs and pubs and restaurants of all flavours. Lots of summer festivals and camping within an hour drive. Hell, it's Toronto...once you get used to it, you can have a good time.
There is great fishing around here(Trout, Bluegill, Steelhead, Perch), and lot's of woods conducive to hiking, weed, shooting and 1969 Bronco mountain logging skid action! The west side of the state has much the same thing, except better and more spectacular......... We also have excellent higher learning facilities here.
I was considering taking an FAA job in Portland, Oregon a couple of years ago, but didn't want to move with my kid in high school. He barely scraped by as it was , so I made the right choice. Wesley Snipes (Passenger 57) said "always bet on black." I say "always bet on family."
Your right. My mom's family is from Eastern Oregon(Nyssa), and every time I go there it really throws me off that I don't have to pay sales tax on food. Western Oregon, especially Astoria, is great biking country! By the way, how are the gun laws different? I usually don't get a lot of static when I buy guns(except for the handgun business).
The climate isn't the best in North Dakota, during any season. About the best thing about this state is the economic freedom, and the fact the state actually has a budget surplus ($1.2 Billion). Unfortunately the state government is afraid to spend it on anything so there's no real advantage to having it.
