If I was half a million in the hole because of legal costs, I wouldn't just resign, I'd go on a shooting rampage.

Stay in office and spend 75% of my time in court going over a million dollars more in legal debt from frivolous lawsuits? I'd quit, too. Plenty of jobs out there if you made connections as a state governor.

So she quit. If you are hired to do a two month job, say as a temp, and a six weeks in you decide that you've done all you could to help and just leave, how does that reflect upon you as a temp, or even simply as an employee? Just because you think enough has been done does not mean that enough actually has been done. The job is to address the needs of the state. I highly doubt all the needs of the state have been addressed.

If you don't want to do the job anymore you give a reasonable advance notice and leave, but shouldn't expect to be applauded for it. She shouldn't be harangued for here decision but neither should she be praised for quitting. If she were going on to a higher office, that's one thing, but just out and out leaving politics entirely before her term is up is not admirable.

As for having that kind of politician, you're okay with that? So one day the President (say an ideal President) decides to step down and resign, leaving the VP in charge. You would be fine with that? Is that how we should run the country? "Hey Bob, I don't like this job. I'm going to quit, here's my hat and the keys to the safe." This isn't the Sizzler, it's the Office of the United States, or in Governor Palin's case, the Office of Governor of the State of Alaska.

^John, do you dispute the point that lame ducks are lame?

No, I don't dispute that. However, there's a difference between being lame and just being gone. At least with a lame duck the basic administrative tasks a Governor has will still get done by them. Even though George W. was often referred to as a lame duck, he still did the basic tasks of his office toward the end of his Presidency. Doesn't she have work that only a Governor can oversee?

Sarah Palin attorney warns press on 'defamatory material'

Ratcheting up her offensive against the news media, Gov. Sarah Palin’s attorney threatened Saturday to sue mainstream news organizations if they publish “defamatory” stories relating to whether Palin is under federal investigation.

The Clintons made it through it.

That's why everyone was looking for a scandal. They were looking for some sort of reason. But the fact of the matter is there is no reason. Palin's a quitter, pure and simple.

And this is the woman that would have been a heartbeat away from the presidency. How the hell could she have handled North Korea or Iran? Palin doesn't even have the self-control to ignore god damn bloggers. 'Kim Jong Il said something mean about me! Call my lawyer!'

The Clintons were millionaires. The Palins, not so much.

I still don't see why there's so much fuss over this "unelectable quitter." Shouldn't we be still too overjoyed with how much the country is better with Obama in the White House to care about a VP pick on a losing ticket?

No. I would have shat onto a plate and smeared it on my GOP alter that houses the image of Richard Nixon as a sacrifice. Then I would have fasted for 7 days and 7 nights, tearing apart the photographs of the last 7 democratic presidents each night as I prayed for a republican reversal in the house for 2010.

I promise you that if Palin had been elected and Obama defeated last year the idea of continuing to point out the faults of Obama would be somewhere in the 900,000 neighborhood on my list of things to do - at best.

Jesus Christ. The behavior of you mouth-breathing liberals regarding Palin turns my fucking stomach. I understand, and have seen many times, that those types are capable of generating some world-class hate, but this is just fucking ridiculous.

But, now that Palin has shown that this weasel strategy will work, this is only the beginning. Watch for a spike in citizen-generated ethics complaints (where possible) against conservatives at every level of government. The flood gates have been opened.

It's fucking absurd. What a wonderful country we live in where we can sit around and make up shit all day and drive someone into the ground financially. Think about that. A worthless shitbag like Nutbird, who does nothing more than vote for a living and contributes absolutely nothing to society, can sit around and cost people who achieved something everything they've worked for. And for what? Because she jeopardized their Messiah's path of destiny for all of two weeks?

It's a good thing I'll never be in a position of power or I'd start rounding up these goddamn liberal parasites and putting the in concentration camps.

What's a shame is that the plaintiffs used an ethics law that was supposed to bring accountability to Alaskan politicians. A law that Palin supported.

Matter of fact, she used it on herself to clear up that state cop firing episode.

The Clintons had investments of at least 3 million in one account back in 1998.. Palin's defense fund now runs about 1/5th of the personal debt that's been accumulated. And Slick actually committed perjury. But you don't remember that because you're retarded. :bailey:

Not that they didn't have to earn much in any case, what with dodging their Whitewater taxes. :walz:

No, you're scared she's not stuck in Alaska any more. She's coming down to garrote you in your sleep.

Are you seriously trying to sell us on the notion that the Clinton's net worth in 1998 is only what they made that year?

Remember it? How the fuck could we forget it? You had parasites lining up left and right to donate thinking they might get a chance to suck his dick or maybe he would shove a cigar up their ass. The media busted their balls to get the word out to the drones to send help.

I'll never forget watching a news story back then of an elderly unemployed bitch weeping and proudly proclaiming she was sending every bit of her savings to rescue the 'first black President'.

it would be interesting, I should think, to compare the list of donors to the Clinton Defense fund to the list of donors to the Palin defense fund...

Not to mention that the Clintons made it known that Chelsea was off limits by the media. While the MSM has done nothing but eviscerate the Palin children.

    No double standard there huh?

Nope. Once the lefties saw Sarah Palin single-handedly breathe life into John McCain's all but dead in the water presidential campaign, and indeed, bring him within striking distance of the Messiah, all bets were off, Sarah Palin had to be destroyed at all costs. I've never seen a full-court press like the one the liberals mounted against her. Not even Ann Coulter or Pres. Bush create the level of instant, foam-at-the-mouth hatred from the left that Sarah Palin does.

"and now we turn to Fox News contributor, former Alaska Governer Sarah Palin.."

Can't wait till she shares a stage with Huckabee. I don't know how much more out of touch you can get with those two.

Sad thing is.... you actually think she is out of touch.

I'll tell you right now the people who put that food in your supermarket, you know the ones, from the middle of this country?

She's in touch with them. I'm sure you would just love for us to be gone, but then you would have to rely on foreign countries to bring you food, since I don't know a single true dem farmer. And shortly thereafter you would be China's bitch.

I like her so far, and most of that is from the fact that it pisses people like you off. :P

I can see the debate now:

"Mrs. Palin, if elected President, will you quit two years into your term the way you quit two years into your term as governor of Alaska?"

"Well, gosh golly gee, we took a vote, and, you know, energy independence, and well, you know there, gosh, full court press and see, because, uh those all important mineral rights and boy oh boy Jesus and you know, uh, the troops..."

And, as Aenea noted - THAT is the number one reason why she's so appealing. i can't say that I don't recognize the validity or at least the arguability of some of the complaints, but she pisses off all the right people and that's hard to ignore.

Didn't the left say that it didn't matter that Obama had no experience and no publicized plan or even vision? He was supposed to provide some vague notion of leadership and he would surround himself with people who could carry out those ideals. Well, six months in and we're still watching him learn the job and figure out how to palm Joe Biden off on some foreign country and hope to keep him and his big mouth out of the media.

The problem with Palin was that she was way more qualified than Obama and the only way for Democrats to feel good about him is to continually run her down. Every single item that has been used against her, though, could've been used in triplicate against him.

Aenea is right, though. Middle America will remember her treatment. Whether or not her political career survives - or she even wants it to - they won't forget the snake-oil-salesman treatment that they bought.

I'm sorry but that's a pretty stupid reason to want someone to be president.
