Not sure if you yanks are aware of this case but this guy is fighting extradition to the US for hacking into the Department of Defence computer system in the most extensive hack to date. He is an Asperger's sufferer who says he was looking for UFO information. All the lefty celebs are behind him and he has even recorded a song with them.

What reminded me of this is that I work a couple yards from the High Court and yet another of his attempts to fight the extradition took place there today. You always know when something is happening by the amount of press outside.

Anyhow, McKinnen argues that he should be tried in the UK. His lawyers say that extradition to the US would seriously jeopardise his mental health. His mother says that Obama should intervene. I say.....

    BOLLOCKS

...and the English courts agree with me.

There is no justification for this guy not to stand trial in the US. Ok so he has Asperger's, but it is up to the trial judge to decide whether or not this dimishes his resposibility for the crime and that judge must be a US federal judge, not a high court judge sitting in the Central Criminal Court.

If this guy was smart enough to mount a hack like this then I say he has just enough intelligence to know the consequences of his actions, asperger's or not.

Even if he went to prison, which I doubt would be the case (at least not for long anyway), there's no way he'd be going to a federal "pound me in the ass" prison.

Ummm I don't know that much about this particular case, or much about the guy in question or his problems... but what you said is pure bullshit.
I know guys who could multiply any 4 digit numbers instantly in their head and come up with amazing theories in physics who would get PTSD from having to attend a colleagues leaving do and give a speech...
The kind of intelligence he has is not the kind of intelligence you see and appreciate in your colleagues, its completely different (much of the time).

People we now label with "Aspergers" just used to be called "a bit weird" 20 years ago. If anything, he's likely to be more intelligent (in terms of simple IQ anyway) than average. I see no reason why he shouldnt be extradited, and even serve his time in a "pound me in the ass" prison :soma:

if one of them produces a working GUT, do let us know

If the US government were smart, they'd hire him.

Either way, having a mental condition doesn't prohibit him from going to court in the country he committed crimes against. It might keep him from going to jail, but like Chup said, thats up to the trial judge to decide.

    He should not be extradited.

    He never left Britain.

He never committed a crime in the US by default.

From everything I have read, he was a paranoid naivete looking for supposedly covered up information about extraterrestrial contacts - not a spy and not a terrorist. But the US FEDGOV will treat him as a terrorist if they get their paws on him. He'll do decades, possibly up to 60 years, in one of those big American jails where they let large gay men rape you.

The US Govt is being very secretive and underhanded about exactly what they plan to charge him with. Claiming that being open about it woud "jeapordise national security" or some such bullshit.

The British government should look out for its own citizens more. Labour's shameless kowtowing to Washington on this, sending one of its own citizens into the notoriously heavy-handed US federal justice system on such dubious grounds is verging on treason.

IMHO if all else fails the Queen ought to put her foot down and stop the extradition. She does actually still have that perogative.

Maybe if he just threatens to release their secret UFO data they'll drop the charges.

Exactly. Having worked with kids who suffer from Autism and Asperger's I can say with out a doubt that the Asperger's kids are quite capable of functioning within society. LIts its been said, 20 years ago most of these kids were labeled as just being weird

Oh bullshit he didnt. He accessed servers physically located in the US.

Fedral prisons are the easy time joints. We have the state prison here and they would love to be at a fed. prison.

I have family that works at 1313 N 13th Ave
    Walla Walla, WA

They sit in towers armed to the teeth or babysit death row all day. The guards there tell you to fight , fuck or get along. They flat out dont care if 19 cons rape the mouth of a con as long as they dont see it.

Fed prison is a freakin picknik.

you must have the two mixed up.

Rob Newhouse: Y'know, minimum-security prison is no picnic. I have a client in there right now. He says the trick is: kick someone's ass the first day, or become someone's bitch. Then everything will be all right. Why do you ask, anyway?

    Nonsense and here's why......

Due to this being a high-profile case they are not going to allow anything to happen to him. If they did it would make it very difficult for future people to be extradited from the UK to America.

And there is no doubt in my mind that the British government has asked for and knows exactly what he is accused and that is why they are for extradition as well.

It wasn't a question. The whole quote was a line from a popular movie; the line just happened to have the question at the end.

Bullshit. Who have we refused extradition on?

I found this with two seconds of Google.

    http://www.nytimes.com/1986/10/21/w...ican-is-extradited-to-britain-in-killing.html

The thing is, considering you can get 2 years for rape and almost as little for murder in your pansy ass 'justice' system compared to DEATH in the United States, it's not like many Brit criminals run to America.
