The power is off due to the winter storm and the laptop is down to 36% battery power remaining. So I wanted to get in a few last words before I go. Fuck you Yankees! Hope and change! Wrong font! Of the ass! Ban Packard. It's important! Douchenozzle! Shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, and tits.
If the power is still out tomorrow, I'll start up the generator. For tonight, my reenacting candle lantern is working well and we have fires going in the woodstoves, so we're warm and safe.
Hey Muad! Still waiting on your opinion of my choice for Pedo Bear's theme song... Wordforge linky... :santa_azn:
We've been lucky so far this year. Not much snow at all ... yet. We are good for a snowstorm like that at least once every winter. 20+ centimetres is not all that unusual. We had a bad blizzard at the beginning of April in the 90s where the snow was, I'm not kidding, about six feet off the ground.
Dawg! I can't believe you said that! Anyway, it's getting frosty just in time for Christmas around here. It made it down into the 40's again this AM and I had to wear a shirtshirt outside at a shopping center while out today. I feel y'all's pain.
For everyone that's getting snow, please be safe!! As for us, the weather gurus have predicted snow in the northern part of Alabama, but where I am, it's just fucking cold!
Ah see now, it was renamed "climate change" a while ago, and then recently it's been found that it was, basically, a hoax.
I'm baaaaaaack! The storm started on Friday with rain, which froze on everything and then changed to snow. We've got 8 inches. We were without power from about 7:15 PM Friday until about 12:30 today. The snow downed 2 trees across my driveway and I had to cut and clear those out. My damned generator wouldn't start. Fortunately, we mainly heat with 2 wood stoves, so we had heat and cooked on them. With no power, we had no well water so when the storage tank ran out, we melted pots of snow on the wood stoves. We have a sunroom on the front of the house that we left unheated and used it for a walk-in freezer, and were able to keep our food OK. We had plenty of candles and my CW candle lantern for light. All in all, the worst part was keeping the kids entertained and we missed Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars.
Waters of Mars was pretty good. More nasty weather in store for Omaha. Supposed to have some rain, get a good layer of ice on everything, then start in with the snow. That ought to thin out the traffic a little bit.
That's basically what happened here. Everything got a good coat of ice and then the snow. It didn't get terribly cold, thank goodness. I think the lowest temp I saw on my thermometer was about 28°. They were able to clear the roads fairly well, but the ice and snow on the tree limbs and power lines was a different matter.
No. I charged the cell phone off of the truck's 12v DC. I actually could have charged the laptop with the inverter in the minivan, but I didn't bother.
