I watch some of it. The snowboarding events have been entertaining. I also watched Canada blow out Norway 8-0 tonight.
yeah watched it last night...I felt really bad for Jeremy Abbott, he's a really good skater but he psyched himself out....Takahashi did a really good job too. I really hope he or the other american (can't remember his name) takes the russian out 2morrow night. 2nite is the mens halfpipe...Go Shaun White!!
I want Evan L. to get first and then Plushenko to get 2nd...Plushenko's a really great skater, he just needs to be a little more humble off the ice. I missed Takahashi's program...I don't have cable and old curling and hockey games were on the two channels showing the Olympics. Which country do you think will end up with the most medals?
What a game, I'm nursing quite the hangover today. As for the OP's question, I'm at the Olympics. The city has this incredible vibe right now, it's way too much fun.
Both. Shooting sports are relevant for all seasons. They should even have ice skating shooting sports.
I did that once, when the winter Olympics were in Albertville, France, in 1992. It was kind of neat. Of course, Albertville was certainly calmer than Vancouver is, because Albertville is just a dinky little ski town of about 20,000 people.
Starting today I'm going to the Canada/Swiss game for men's hockey, I've got curling on Monday, a playoff hockey game on Tuesday and unfortunately the stand up seating up at Cypresss Mountain for the GS Snowboarding got cancelled due to safety concerns over the melting snow. It's great to see all the people here I have to say, and everyone seems to be really enjoying themselves. We've got beautiful weather right now too, showcases our city quite nicely I think. The money we spent on these Olympics was quite staggering which created a lot of animosity but it seems people are just figuring they might as well enjoy them while they're here and worry about the cost later.
Shaun White took gold, i'm so stoked....48.4 out of 50 points..he's the shit....And Lindsey Vonn got gold too that was cool. I think either America or Germany will end up walking away with the most medals this year. 2nights the mens freestyle in skating and the womens halfpipe...w00t
Shaun White is the Usain Bolt of snowboarding. He's so far ahead of his sport that it's not really even competition. The rest of the field is stuck watching him perform tricks that they've never even imagined.
I thought shooting sports were one of the bigger events at the Olympics? It's just not aired because of liberal media that don't want people seeing guns being used non-violently/it's incredibly boring/it's a blip in Prufrock's imagination or something. And I coulda sworn that last Winter Olympics had some triathlon-like sport where folks would cross-country ski a ways, then stop and shoot a few targets with a rifle, then ski a bit more to the next stop and shoot some more. But maybe that's another blip.
hmm..that could be interesting...as long as it wasn't combined with figure skating...some of them have trouble staying on their feet as it is, let alone trying to shoot too!
Biathlon. They ski 10 km with two pauses to shoot 5 targets the size of a silver dollar ~160 feet away. Fun stuff XD
*start of rant* It's hard to believe how many of these people are fucking babies....The russian took silver in figure skating and is saying he was robbed ...and the South Koreans hate Apolo Ohno again cause he beat them...again... Some people just need to grow the fuck up, put on their big girl panties and get the hell over it... *end of rant*
That's because he's their golden child. He basically said earlier that he was coming back until the Russian male skaters were good enough to take on the world...he has quite an ego, but normally is a consistent and excellent skater. This time Evan was better, and you're right, they need to get over it and stop blaming the judges for his mistakes!
That's why I'm glad he got 2nd place...it will be interesting to see what it does for his ego! Although, I have to give him credit for performing so well he made it to the Olympics after not being in competition for over a year...Sasha C. couldn't do it, so it's obviously not easy. As for me, I appreciate his skating, not his attitude! I liked him a lot more before he became so popular (good?).
If anything, I like him more because of his huge ego. But I watched it and no one even came close to the American who won.
He's a good skater, so he can have a bit of an ego...but Jesus H Christ u lost fair and square. There's an ego, then there's holy shit let some air out of your big head before you hit the space station.
Is there any good place online to watch 2010 Olympic videos? I try the news sites that say they have videos, but all they have are Olympic-themed credit card commercials and no actual sports footage.
Have you tried NBC (http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/index.html)? I'm not sure which videos you're looking for, but what I saw of the figure skating ones looked pretty good.
