And Miss Beverly Hills (Which I'm sure is also a porn actress' name) is prominant? maybe her rack is, but that's about it. Why the fuck do they even TALK about anything? Just strut around with your hips shaking and your boobs out and keep your brain damaged observations to yourself.
It doesn't matter that she was spouting your preferred flavor of oppressive bigoted horse shit. The problem here is that self-important douchebag officials of the City of Beverly Hills think they're approval is needed for anyone to express their opinions.
OK Apostle...Tellya what. Don't get married to a guy OK? If that's what brings you happiness, I say chase that rainbow!
This is how free speech ends in America. Not by any restrictive laws being enacted by government, but by private organizations and activist groups enforcing a pc code that gets people fired/shamed/threatened for not toeing the line, or even associating with people who don't toe the line.
Gays should be allowed to marry, and she should be allowed to think and say anything she likes about it, and other people should be allowed to think and say anything they like about her in return. This includes taking away a title gained in a popularity contest when it turns out that her opinions are not popular, because that's what popularity means. If you -- very reasonably -- don't want to compete for popularity, don't compete in a popularity contest.
I tenatively agree with that on general principle, but "The City of Beverly Hills" suggests a local government acting in an official capacity to shout down unpopular speech, and I find that unacceptible.
Beauty pageants are leftover vestiges of the days of eugenics, and therefore inherently Nazi, so, anything towards their ultimate destruction, makes me happy.
Governments of any kind should not be denouncing people's free speech, it is a violation of the 1st amendment.
Let's get past the preliminaries and down to brass tacks: How do these "beauty queens" feel about the current IRS asset depreciation guidelines?
Krusty: "Good evening. Tonight my guest is AFL-CIO chairman George Meany, and we'll be discussing collective bargaining agreements." Meany: "It's a pleasure to be here, Krusty." Krusty: "Let me be blunt. Is there a labor crisis in America today?" Meany: "Well that depends on what you mean by 'crisis...'"
The city government said "We don't agree with her and she doesn't represent us." Kind of hard to turn that into a violation of the 1st Amendment, unless you're desperate.
Backlash is over the top, but keep in mind that this is what she said: If she was a Muslim quoting something about putting non-Muslims to death I bet plenty of the people defending her would instead be joining in the attacks.
Ugh, another Christian who doesn't understand the reasoning behind Jesus's self sacrifice. When he died on the cross, he voided/pardoned the sins of the Old Testament and it's the New Testament with which you need to concern yourself. But hey, why worry about trivial details like that, when there's so much damnation in the Torah that can be used to socially and politically control people.
First, how do they know that she does not represent anyone there? Second, why didn't they say something about it before this? Third, its not up to them to agree or disagree with anyone's opinion. Fourth, if there are city government employees that have nothing to do but watch beauty contests and then make announcements about it, they obviously don't have a real job and that job needs to be eliminated to balance the budget.
If she was a Muslim spouting lines about how non-Muslims deserved to be killed you would be arguing the exact opposite.
The majority of Californians believe that homosexuals should be killed? I'm all for peoples rights to their beliefs, I'm also for calling them out when they are batshit insane. If you quote your holy text saying that homosexuals should be put to death as evidence for your position, then you are the type of person who deserves to be made fun of.
