The statement from Caterpillar I found particularly interesting. At one point, Barack Obama said "You can measure America's bottom line by looking at Caterpillar's bottom line. I almost posted a thread last week stating that letters had gone out. I was mistaken, a draft letter is in place. That draft letter is stating that the Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA), one of the most stable and fiscally responsible retirement systems in the nation, is contemplating dropping all state retirees from it's group Blue Cross & Blue Shield plan because of the cost of continuing coverage under the new legislation. All retirees that are eligible for Medicare will be dropped from the program. Those that remain will be able to stay on the current program until they reach Medicare eligibility. It's tied up in corporate counsel, and if it clears, it'll go out. Couple swelling roles with $500 billion in cuts to Medicare from this legislation, and the Democrats could wind up with quite a bit of egg on their faces.
If I were in charge of one of those companies, the only thing I'd send to them would be a printout of the following: Don't tell me how to run my fucking company unless you plan to nationalize it. Oh, and to pay for all the new healthcare bullshit, everyone is taking a % cut of their salary to cover these new costs. Don't like it, there's the door.
It will go out because short of raising everyone's taxes sky high they will have no choice but to drop people. If they are smart they will hold a huge press conference on the issue and invite Mr. Waxman to the Alabama State Senate along with any internal documents to call him to account for the discrepancy between what the Democrats claimed and what is actually happening.
I just had a BIG flashback to certain passages in Atlas Shrugged, there. So, when reality walks up and broadly slaps them in the face, the assclowns who passed this obamanation will still refuse to accept the impossibility of what they are trying to achieve. Noted.
Of course they will. It's reality and they don't deal well with reality. They have all these graphs and idealographies that show that this will all work out and everyone will smile. Besides, Obama said it will work and we all know he knows more than anyone else about these things.
First, the Democrats will never admit that they screwed the pooch on this, sure as hell, we'll all be seeing some White House or Congressional staffer going into all sorts of contortions to explain how this is all Pres. Bush's fault. Second, were I a CEO of one of the companies in question, I would attend, and answer Rep. Waxman thusly: "Congressman, if you don't like hearing the real-world impact of your bill, maybe you should have read the damned thing dumbass!" Followed by my best "Gentlemen" ala Tim Matheson from Animal House as I excused myself from that den of theives. View attachment 5769 [YT="I have the leaked video!
