It still inspires a great line from "Born in East L.A." Our heroes are sneaking back into America after being falsely accused of being native Mexicans. I'll paraphrase: "Hey! Are they having a celebration or something?" "Yeah, it's Cinco De Mayo I think." "So what is that all about?" " I don't know, but they do this every year about this time."
So apparently a California principal sent some kids home for wearing t-shirts with the American flag on them on Cinco de Mayo.
And the other truth about Cinqo de Mayo is that it's really just the day after Lisping Jedi Day ("May the forth be with you . . .")
Heck - I was always wondering what the fuss was about. But then it fits; Boys day requires beer..... In Japan, May 5th is Boys Day. The boys (ALL of them) celebrate and get gifts.
