Inspired by some back and forth in another thread, I wondered what people might consider the best scripted show of this just ending TV season.

I'd be hardpressed to pick one. "Lost," maybe?

Mods, I wanted to do a poll, but something went awry...can anyone explain how I can do a poll now after the fact? Thanks!

Human Target was okay. Big Bang while funny just isn't a contender. V and Stargate Universe were meh......

I don't really watch more than 7 or 8 shows though so maybe I'm missing some.

I may revisit this thread once I've caught up on the Justified episodes living in my DVR, but for now I'd vote Modern Family followed by Community. Funny shit.

I'd be happy to add a poll, just tell me the TV show names, and the options you'd like.

'Wonders of the solar system' was pretty good.
But id have to go with BBC's 'Life'. Not as good as 'Planet Earth' but still pretty amazing.

As much as I love NCIS, it's getting TOO formulaic. Same w/ House. And with The Mentalist to a lesser degree.

Grey's Anatomy is still pretty good, when they focus more on the medical issues rather than the MD's bed-hopping. The season finale w/ the gunman loose in the hospital was excellent.

I really need to get back into Burn Notice. It feels like I've missed so much...

I've liked what I've seen from Castle and Justified, but I've only seen an ep or two of those. I've heard good things about White Collar, but not actually seen any eps. I used to watch In Plain Sight, but got turned off of it when they started playing up the trite "Marshall falls for Mary" plotline.

Basically most of USAs one hour original shows.

I don't think I could rank any of the "Big Four" network shows as being that great.

though as far as new shows, while it has been too often maligned, I think "NCIS: Los Angeles" is quite good.

They've done well retaining key elements of the original yet finding their own distinctive style and pace.

The reason Michael Westen was "burned" turned out to be a very clever and unexpected move.

Re: Best Show on TV 2009-2010

    Thanks!

Maybe keep this open as a nomination thread to, say, Monday or Tuesday and then post the poll with the following options/categories, plus ones people add that I've overlooked?

Also maybe have the same options for worst in each of these categories.

And allow people to pick up to 3 choices, then have a run off poll.

    Thanks

I originally just said scripted and American (although I cheated and allowed Doctor Who to make the list) to maximize familiarity and to minimize comparing apples to oranges (although eventually there will be a fair amount of that. It's tough to say if, say, Archer is a better show than The Mentalist because they operate in vastly different ways.)

Re: Best Show on TV 2009-2010

That's actually five polls. Ten if you add a "worst" version of every category. My offer was to add a poll to this thread because the time allowed for you to add one had expired. If you're starting new threads then you can add new polls accordingly. Sounds like you're looking to use the "Forgie" format, substituting television shows for awards.

    :)

I'm not familiar with this expression.

Of course. I'm trusting "Whomp wah" isn't an insult of some sort.

Ah okay, though I must admit I don't understand the use of "Womp wah" in this context. Have I been duped! Was Raoul the Red Shirt just joking with his request for ten polls?
