In what sense is the US economy owned by China? China owns just 5% of the US debt. Japan owns more. The figures quoted by this guy are also wrong. And he appears to be bent on reinforcing the false idea that European countries lent money to each other. They didn't. The banks lent the money. Any bailout will be to ensure that the banks don't lose out, by socialising the foolish loans that they made.
The ultimate irony is that we require the explanation "in under 3 minutes." Microwave, get rich quick, economics created this problem in the first place.
During the Bush administration, I often asked about the relevance of the Chinese debt. WF and TNZ gave me a lot of "Blah-blah-blah, nothing to see here, don't worry about it." Even more frequently, I raised the issue of outsourcing, and WF in particular explained to me that it was "good business practice, the fault of the unions, corporations are people, too, blah-blah-blah, don't worry about it." Now, suddenly, it's all relevant. Huh. But speaking of relevance, it's nice to see Jamey trying so hard. Zodiac, of all people, managed to hit a nerve.
I won't be surprised if the stock market crashes around August or September. In fact, I'm kind of expecting it.
I have some gold wafers and gold coins in a safety deposit, but it kinda got me rethinking gold as an investment. If worst case scenario happens, people aren't really going to be interested in gold, but they will need food, shelter, water, and basic amenities like toilet paper and soap. The only way investing in gold would benefit me is if the world economy collapsed and there were hyper inflation, but not to the point where there is anarchy. So by buying gold, you almost have to hope for something like this to happen. Yet, if it does, gold and a fiat currency will probably be the least of your worries. In a way, it's kinda an odd investment. You would be happy if you benefit from it, but also, you don't want to at the same time. EDIT: I also bought a 1oz. silver coin from West Edmonton Mall, but that's only worth around $20. EDIT 2: It was American!
The only big flaw in your plan is that, now that you've told them where you'll be hiding, they'll know where to come looking for you. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
