of Farscape, i had only ever watched the first 2 seasons so i just watched the whole series in 10 days did anyone else really like it? i thought it was great.
I didn't have the SciFi Channel until Farscape was mostly done. And then they frakkin' canceled it so that they could spend money on that retard John Edward and goddam wrestling. Wrestling. On the SciFi Channel. But I liked what I saw of it. Some pretty neat, involved storylines going on there.
yeah i thought it was written well, + all the animatronics(sound spelled) were jim henson and i like his stuff. u should try catch the rest of it, all i have to see now is the The peace keeper wars, i never saw them.
'meh. I got bored with it sometime during the second season. I think for me, there was no good reason that Rigel wasn't thrown out of the airlock. That little muppet never thought twice about betraying the rest of the crew.
A rare gem in a sea of shit television, never to be reproduced. I should really get it on DVD and plow through it again.
Another vote here - one of the best space operas we've ever seen. Vary original in it's take, and the PeaceKeeper Wars was a great ending - unlike then ending of say Voyager or Enterprise or BSG or....
Farscape was without a doubt one of the most insanely original space shows ever produced. The acting was incredible, and even the puppet work made you believe these creatures were real. What I loved most about the show is that it was not afraid to take risks. Sometimes they paid off, and sometimes they fell flat on their face. But they always learned from their mistakes and would turn things around to produce some of the most intense hours of television ever. John Crichton was the perfect everyman, full of hi-larious pop-culture references and not above making mistakes. His relationship with Aeryn was the best, most believable love story I've ever seen in a sci-fi show. Browder and Black had so much damn chemistry together they sizzled onscreen. My favorite episode is when Aeryn mourns for the other Crichton on the planet of mystics. Claudia Black should have won a fucking Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild award for that episode alone, she was that phenomenal. There were rumors awhile back that Brian Henson was trying to bring Farscape back as a webisode series, but I don't think it ever got off the ground. I would love to see the show return to TV on another network (say FX). There are still so many stories they could tell out in the Uncharted Territories. Damn I miss this show!
You people are bastards. Because of Wordforge, I found all four seasons for $62.99 on Amazon, plus Peacekeeper Wars for $8.99, and I was too weak to resist.
But remember, Bonnie Hammer thought John Edward and wrasslin' was more important for the future of the SciFi Channel.
i salute you sir, i did that 3 weeks ago and it was not even WordForges damn fault. but remember that is a buy of epic WIN, u should be very happy together
is right. He seems to have slithered back down to the sewers from wench he came. He a diminutive frog/toadish thing? Wasn't their ship alive & conscious? John Edwards is off being John Edward by one letter Glad that conman lowlife bumb is off the airwaves. Permanently I hope. Good point about wrestling on the Sci-Fi Channel. WRESTLING! Horse maneure like Dalton Rand & Thunderlips taking up airtime on the Sci-Fi Channel was, is, part of the Jar Jar Binksing of America.
Best Australian show ever! I think it was probably one of the last big risks that the 9 network was involved in.
SCiffy has dropped all pretense of trying to produce good original scripted shows, and has instead redirected their attention (and minimal resources) on producing even MORE faux-reality paranormal horseshit! They have several more paranormal-themed reality shows in the works that are coming out in June. Remember when SciFi used to be about Scient Fiction instead of ghosts and wrestling?
You think the SyFy ones are bad, skimming channels, I saw Nickelodean has one where they're teaching kids that ghost-sniffing shit. Can't some ambitious lawyer come up with a reason that that, and "toddlers in tiara's", are child abuse, and get everyone involved locked up? Maybe even in one of those abandoned "haunted", prisons...
despite my own openness to finding credibility in the occult, I'm pretty in favour of this. Although, the already existing law probably covers it well enough.
Good show. So far it's set the high water-mark for TV, imo, overcoming my previous favorites like Star Trek, the B5 story, and DS9.
its great to have watched it start to finish, all shows should be watched like that or not at all. IMHO.
Early thoughts... I had forgotten how cute Claudia Black was back in season 1. The first episode sets a decent pace for a brand new series, then it immediately drops off in episode #2 with that "I, E.T." stuff. Not a bad episode, but I didn't realize that was the second episode people would've seen.
I thought the first season was extremely weak until about the sixth or seventh episode. Then the quality started to get better, and then the show kicked all kinds of ass during the last four episodes of Season One when the grand arc of the series was finally introduced.
I bought the set off amazon a while back and my cousin(who is new to the show) and I are watching it all the way through. She loves it. We are currently at the incredible Into the Lions Den two parter. Best space opera ever and one of the most believable love stories ever produced on screen though I'm more partial to the John/Dargo relationship myself. Almost as good a bromance as Hank Moody and Charlie Runkle.
Keep watching. The relationship between John and D'Argo is almost as compelling as the one between John and Aeryn, although a lot funnier in spots.
