Saw some activity on the Facebook group page and thought I'd stop by and say hi! Hopefully hang around this time, I forgot how much entertainment this place brought me. Life has been good since I last post, I just swore into the Army this past Thursday and will be shipping out in January -- I know, I know...that's a long delay. I have no idea why. :/ But yes, I hope y'all are doing well and I hope to be around the forums more often! I look forward to making some tempers rise again! BTW, the emoticons have gotten ridiculously awesome! More forums should have these. P.S. If this isn't in the right place, feel free to move it MODs!
I'm somewhat envious. I wanted to join the Air Force as an officer, but there's about a dozen health regulations that would keep me out. Kinda disappointing.
I honestly wanted Air Force, but the recruiter in my parts is an ass and never returns calls. Also, they have a wait of a year or more before shipping out. But I've always known that I would do well in the military, no matter the branch. It's just that time now to actually join, I need to get a college degree and have a career. Not some bull shit job and playing music all the time. But I'm really looking forward to it! My MOS is Air Defense Enhanced Early Warning Systems Operator -- basically, I'll be working with radar for the Patriot missile system.
I salute you for your service (in advance) and hope you stay safe and grow through the experience. I wanted to join the army too. Thyroid condition kept me out. ONE. FREAKING. PILL.
That's not a valid comparison at all. I played sports in HS primarily so I would be in shape to join the service. I guess you're not aware of why the thyroid is an important organ though, or of the miliary's policy of no medical conditions (without an exception, and they're not gonna give that for combat arms).
I think you meant to salute Kamelreds, as I said, I have too many health regulations that prevent me from joining the armed services (roughly 7 or 8 if I recall correctly).
When I was a little kid I wanted to be a garbage man. I was fascinated by how the trash trucks smooshed the trash to make it more compact. I ended up in journalism, so I guess I got my wish.
Join the Army! See the world! Travel to far away places! See exotic countries and beautiful scenery! Discover cultures different from your own! Meet interesting people from all walks of life! And kill them!
Good on you KamelReds! Wish I had enlisted, and I haven't an excuse for not joining, nor a physical deficiency that would've precluded entry. Truth be told, the Air Force (ROTC) tried to recruit me before I graduated High School, and on my eighteenth birthday I was called by an Army recruiter inviting me to discuss my future over a meal. The Navy and the Marines sent similar invitations. As to why I wish I'd enlisted, well, it ain't like I did anything more worthwhile between eighteen and twenty-one. But to be fair, had I joined up I might be singing a different tune. Nevertheless good on you KamelReds!
Be sure to tell the Seargent, right from the start, that you're willing to cooperate and everything, but that you need a couple of hours each day to post on Wordforge. We want to know how it's going, after all. If you explain that it's for your internet friends, and not just wasting time, I'm sure he'll understand.
