I do like the assumption some people make that they can create a dual by simply slapping a name on a membership without getting to know the persona they attempt to emulate.

The person behind the Barack H. Obama dual has made that error. Egregiously so, in that he assumes all black people speak the way television rappers do. (He's obviously never been to the UK, for one.)

One would never mistake him for the real thing any more than one would mistake Dame Edna for anything other than a drag act.

Do your garments have insights? Mine most assuredly do not. Is English not your first language?

Oh, it gets worse. The city of Kingsport, TN put in redlight cameras a couple of years ago. I-81 doesn't go through the city: it passes by just at the outskirts. The county that it's in, Sullivan Co., decided to get in on the act and so the COUNTY, not the state, lowered the speed limit on their section of I-81.

What did the state have to say about that?

So, like, is there a reason Alabama has a speed limit of 55 on the interstate? Just wondering.

Or Oregon have a 65/55 split when Washington and Idaho are 70/60 and Idaho is 75/65?

Which part of the interstate system? If you're talking about I-20 from Milepost 182 through Milepost 215, yeah.

Last year, a State Legislator's wife was killed on that stretch due to the poor condition of the asphalt. He got the Highway Department and Department of Public Safety all in a panic. They both agreed to lower the speed limit while the road was repaired. The road is in the process of being fixed.

I see, though I didn't see any construction work being done and the road didn't seem to be in very bad shape. This was immediately upon entry into Alabama from Georgia, and while I did see the occasional sign about construction which listed 55 as the speed limit, I didn't see any construction, and all the normal speed limit signs also said 55.

It doesn't really seem to matter in Oregon anyway. I'm inevitably stuck behind a row of jackasses all driving at more or less 1mph under the speed limit.

Except places like Burnside and Sandy, headed out to Gresham, where the speed limit is 35-45 and people are regularly driving 22. :bang:

That's why it is hard to hit the lights. Stupid fucks fuck up the flow. Downtown, of course, the lights are timed so you need to go 11mph to hit them, but pretty much everywhere else, if there's no traffic so I can go 7mph above the limit, the way God intended, I can blow down the road like a thunderbolt.

Yeah, Portland drivers need to be systemically pulled over and cited for obstructing the flow of traffic and failure to signal, constant turning into the far lane, etc etc. The best bit is, you CAN prove a driver's going below limit and holding up traffic, much like you can prove someone's speeding.

Get to it, Portland Police. Chop chop.

Other than the slow speeds, those drivers almost sound like CA transplants.

Some areas still prefer the 55 speed limit. In CA, that is usually in the more densely populated areas. The I5, US 101, I 405, I 605, and CA 110 that run through portions of LA were left at 55. The surrounding areas are 65, and the out of the way areas, are 70.

My theory: There's a significant number of [Hawaiian] Islanders up here--for whatever reason. You want to go someplace that has bad drivers? Go to Oahu. First off, the speed limit is consistently 5-10mph slower than it should be. On top of that, everyone drives another 8mph or so slower than the speed limit. And then there's a decent chance you'll get behind someone with a "Slow down, this isn't the mainland" bumper sticker. I swear, you could stick zombie Mother Theresa in a car on Oahu and within an hour she'd want to murder a hobo.
