Tennessee School Protects Students From Deadly... Lunch?!

Yep, I've had this lecture before. Senior year of high school, guns in schools issue goes nuts. Lady goes to every high school telling us that ANYTHING shaped like a weapon counts as a weapon.
Bracelet charms shaped like a shotgun? Weapon.
Necklace shaped like a pistol? Weapon.

And the social engineering continues...

Social engineering run amok. Assholes like that should lose their jobs. When they ask why, tell them, "Because you're a gun."

This is why the public school system can't have nice things.

How did rules meant to keep ACTUAL weapons out of schools morph into rules that punish kids for having FOOD that is vaguely weapon-shaped? And to punish kids for PLAYING?

My god, half my class at any time from kindergarten thru HS graduation would have been suspended.

Calling this social engineering is dead on. This is Tennessee. We give our kids a .22 when they're six, and kill them if they screw around with it. It' just our way.

This school must be targeted by logic!

Joking and playing about anything remotely violent leads to violence. It's science. Only by brainwashing them with an aversion to the faintest hint of it can they ever be raised as peaceful little taxpayer drones.


Thank litigious parents. Holding a slice of pizza like a gun is clearly a "warning sign." Failing to notice and get that kid some counseling and medication means you are to blame when he shoots up the school in a couple of years. Absolute 100% safety is a perfectly rational standard to apply to reality. All random tragedies like that can be prevented, and when they aren't it's the fault of everyone but the parents.

I first discovered Star Trek when one of the local stations started running it in syndication every day after I got home from 1st Grade. The day after the first episode, my classmates and I were "playing" Star Trek at recess. Before the week was out, we had constructed "phasers" from the popsicle sticks leftover after our afternoon snack.

By 2nd Grade, we were using cardboard and such to make them very elaborate (I remember making a communicator that had a flip-up antenna, all from cardboard, paper and popsicle sticks).

They would've expelled most of us before we reached 3rd Grade.

And this is why "zero-tolerance" policies are fucking retarded.

Hell I would have been in Federal Prison because we were building actual weapons if this shit existed when I was a kid.

Sometimes I think these social engineering attempts against all forms of violence even stupid ones like making a gun with your fingers is to condition people to not want weapons (ie guns). Sort of a long term way of getting rid of guns without banning them. If no one wants them.....

Of course that makes no sense when kids go home and watch TV and play video games.

There should be zero tolerance. For dumbfuck principles and school boards that allow for this kind of thing.

Zero tolerance = zero thinking...like suspending a straight-A student for a butterknife in the bed of his truck that was there because he helped his grandmother remove some old stuff the day before. Or suspending a kid for saying "That's what she said"--about a HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT.

I get laughed at for telling people I refuse to put my kids in public school if I can help it and told that money doesn't make it better. And maybe academically that's true in some cases, but private schools got a hell of a lot more to lose by pissing off the wrong parent for bullshit like this. Like 5 to 10 thousand a year per student.

So.... what about a gun shaped birthmark? The poor kid is fucked.

I remember taking BB guns to school, and potato guns, making them in school no less. Making an acid/aluminium bomb in school for science class. Along with tazers as well, hell that was when science class was FUN.

Hell, my high school was a tech school, requiring several of its majors to do senior projects. One of my friends built a cannon for his.
