Not really. I don't carry shit worth stealing, that's definitely how I look. I also don't look worth raping or kidnapping. So that pretty much leaves kicking my ass and/or shooting me just for the hell of it.
Yes, you want to shoot center mass and keep firing until your magazine is empty or the threat is completely stopped. That normally results in a kill or near death. Shooting to wound is Hollywood and a good way to wind up DRT yourself.
Mm, okay. So you wouldn't mind a higher tax burden in order to hire more police (and of course you love the police) to go door to door and play judge and jury on the spot (in and around the hail of bullets) about who's a "cockroach" and who's a law-abiding citizen. Then there are the shelters you'll need to house the law-abiding citizens while someone rebuilds the neighborhood. Your local municipality (more tax dollars)? Habitat for Humanity? Jimmy Carter! It's an interesting solution. Doesn't even address the greater number of corporate-run prison cells you'll need for the "cockroaches" who survive.
Please refer to them by their politically correct name, whiggers. R.L Burnside (recently dead blues icon) had a great quote once about killing some guy: "I didn't mean to kill him, I just wanted to shoot him in the face. It was up to God if he died or not."
Not really. The Seattle Housing Authority was able to turn the shithole Holly Park Public Housing into the neighborhood of New Holly. http://www.seattlehousing.org/redevelopment/newholly/
I had that quote as my sig here for a long time: "I didn't mean to kill nobody. I just meant to shoot the sonofabitch in the head. Him dying was between him and the Lord."
Maybe a neighborhood vigilante militia. I actually tried volunteering for that once. It was a total clusterfuck. The supposed "organizers" were a half hour late showing up at their headquarters, and once they did manage to direct us to the job site, the "leadership" there was a joke. Disorganized people running around stepping on each other, tripping each other up with extension cords. Spent the rest of the day hanging drywall and never went back. There are quite a few people I'd set loose to free up space.
Yep, in Jersey City, they tore down the old tall project buildings and rebuilt the whole complex. With nice 4 story max housing and nice landscaping. crime was greatly reduced.
Oh, I'm not disputing the possibility of redevelopment. It's UA's Yosemite Sam six-shooters blazing "solutions" that I take issue with.
Yeah, let's all just wag our fingers and chastise law-abiding citizens for "escalating" things by arming themselves rather than allowing criminal pieces of shit to dictate their movements to them. That's working out really well.
So you actually heading down to the 'hood to kick ass and take names, or you just talking about it on a message board?
No, I'm not heading down to someone else's neighborhood. I'll just not be surrendering my own neighborhood to shit like that. Used to be most places worked that way, families with a vested interest in keeping the place safe. Someone's kid out mugging people would find a whole neighborhood of parents landing on him with both feet. But no more. People like you would have them hiding like rodents, moving in indirect routes and congratulating themselves for their enlightened, pacifistic ways.
Huh, I'll be sure to convey your thoughts to my block association. Maybe the next time I go for a late-night walk with no more deadly weapon than my cell and my keys.
I gotta laugh. the people doing REAL crime are not kids that some adults can go and spank. You're talking about the 50's. Happy Days!!!
But was it really reduced. It's a great concept. We did it in Tampa. I think it's worked here. They did it in Memphis. However all it did there was spread the crime out.
There were 3 Projects here in Chicago. Two have been torn down and replaced with single family housing or duplexes and quadraplexes. One was the infamous Cabrini Green which was in several movies - CandyMan and ... that one with Emilio Estevez where like 4 white guys got "lost/trapped" in the projects in the middle of the night. The only one left standing is Robert Taylor Housing - you know the opening scene from Good Times?
Good Times was Cabrini Green. That complex had 92 buildings. that was one dangerous place. But they have been all tore down.
Pretty sure it was Robert Taylor. But, you could be right. Both were very dangerous. Robert Taylor isn't as bad as it used to be.
The opening scenes could be the projects you speak of. But out the window of their apartment was a view of Cabrini Green Projects.
Ah. I never paid that much attention. In fact, until I moved to Chicago, it could have just been any random city for all I knew. Didn't even know projects such as Cabrini Green or Robert Taylor existed until I moved here. And, everyone here "knows" that opening scene is Robert Taylor.
Tore down, and now the crime has just shifted further out into the suburbs. This actually helps the drug dealers/gang bangers because they get a head start on unprepared virgin territory to turn into a shithole. It nice to hear exceptions (neighborhoods getting better and not worse) but sadly The South is the land of "this used to be a nice area".
I flagged a guy on a bike down 2 minutes later and called the cops on his cell phone. They were there before I was off the phone with 911. They brought the dogs, but those cunts must have left in a car. I would take a picture of the Police report, but they stole my camera phone. I want my fucking wallet back.
FUCK I hate that! The time and expense replacing all your credit cards, I.D. cards (I need three just for my work) drivers license, etc. No excuse for that shit. You want my money? okay. You want to go fill up your gas tank with my credit card (since nobody checks you identity at the pumps) go for it. But I need my wallet! One time in Phoenix my step-dad was robbed, and his wallet was tossed in a trash-can where anyone could see it - the thieves just took the cash. Another time one of my Army buds had a young armed thug (with a car-full of thugs as backup - can't fight everyone) rob him, and he talked the robber into letting him keep his Army ID card. The guy agreed, and just took the money and tossed his wallet back to him. Best he played it like he did - in that same spot an Army guy was beaten to death (multiple kicks in the head from five people will do that to you) so bad guys don't fuck around.
Ok, sport. Anyway, someone found my wallet, and called my cousin(we have the same first and last name). Now, if I could just get my phone back......
