Even Red Box is better. Any movie you want, as long as you want it, costs only $1.

Re: Circling the Drain: Blockbuster has "substantial doubt" about its ability to stay aflo

It's interesting, because Blockbuster is "me too"-ing the new markets. Like Netflix? Blockbuster will mail you DVDs. Like Red Box? Blockbuster has DVD machines. Their hook is that you can return a movie to one of the brick & mortar stores (if I understand it correctly). Is it enough? Probably not. Possibly if you could get a universal Blockbuster card that would allow you to use the machines and the stores on your mail plan--and they had a streaming option. Be interesting to see if they had the logistic ability to make that work at the market rates, though.

My wife got a free trial month of Netflix. I am done with them in less than a week. I searched through their sci-fi genre and what they have is pathetic.

People never understand that if you undercut your competition out of business, it is because you want to price gouge later.

It would help if they didn't self-censor by not renting anything that's not rated or rated above R.

If you "price gouge" later, the competition will come back. Many businesses are started simply because the owners believe they can provide a similar product or service at a lower price.

Fixed that for the author. :bailey:

When I was in California in December, I saw that Cockbuster had something similar to RedBox...but were still charging 2-3 bucks a film. Way to stay in business, yo. :jayzus:

Re: Circling the Drain: Blockbuster has "substantial doubt" about its ability to stay aflo

In my years I have been to Blockbuster maybe a half dozen times and was so underimpressed in their attitudes and prices I just never went back.
Unless it's something I really want to see I just wait and add it to my library when it gets released for sale or if I do I'll go to the cinema.
    Fuck 'em.

Never rented anything from red box, never will. Fuck them too.

We do have a netflix account and it gets used regularly either catching up on old TeeVee stuff or movies. Eight bucks a month can't be beat though my library has suffered since I don't buy them as much anymore.

Re: Circling the Drain: Blockbuster has "substantial doubt" about its ability to stay aflo

I know I don't post often, still read daily though, thought I'd weigh in on the whole Blockbuster thing (since I still work for BBV for now). When DISH bought out BBV in March they were closing my store but we heard they were going to change a bunch, new terms/policies (which happened, they were better than the old, but to little to late. We heard they were going to change the layout of the stores, we even heard they were looking into going into Game Rush size stores to save on rent (which in hindsight, the minute DVDs became the dominate format, they should have done that).

In the past 9 months some of this has happened, some obviously has not. There still closing stores left and right, currently 400 and something is liquidating, including mine (which btw, if your near one that is, and if there on the same time schedule as mine, starting Monday morning previously viewed DVDs go down to $4.99/per and new retail movies are 40% off and all games, both new and used go down to 30% off). But anywys, if anyone knows anyone hiring around Cherokee-Cobb-Forsyth-N. Fulton-Pickens CO, GA areas I'm looking for a job :( )

I think that if not by the end of this year, defiantly by the end of 2013 they'll be no more brick and mortars left. I think Dish is intentionally driving off customers,

*In the stores still renting they've screwed around with game rental terms again, pissing people off.
*Some of our BB Online people are claiming there online accounts are showing that they no longer have free in-store exchanges anymore (which was the biggest draw from Netflix, that and BBOnline Has games). This coming right after they changed BB Onlines name to Blockbuster: At home
*They've stopped accepting presales on games, because, well the official line is because they think people will still come in and buy, even though when Call of Duty launches new games, we've always had midnight events and is always a huge draw. I gotta wonder if the stores will be there to have those events. Or are DISH people complete dipshits.
*Our regional manager quit and our district manager was told he was loosing his job two, of the 2 RDOs and 6 DMs I've met in 5 years with this company, these are the only two upper managers that didn't have a stick up there ass. The "Moving Forward" Stores are going probably going to have lousy leadership.)

Anyways, that BBV from the inside right now. I was hoping it would last at least through college and got a real job. When you get down to it It wasn't a bad job, (if take away the constant pressure to sell!). Always worked around school schedules and 10 Free rentals a week! O well, something will turn up!

    Maybe I'll start posting more (I don't know why I don't anyways)

Yep. $8 a month and I can have hundreds of titles in my queue at one time, which is like having hundreds of DVDs on the shelf, and thousands more available at moment's notice. It's nice.

Re: Circling the Drain: Blockbuster has "substantial doubt" about its ability to stay aflo

You shall be the footnote at the end of the Wikipedia article: "The last known customer to use Blockbuster was a man named Uncle Albert in Nebraska. Two days later he was found by the police pounding on the door of the closed store demanding to return the movies so he wouldn't have to pay any late fees. The police report states that he was ranting at the police and refusing to follow their instructions. Yelling at the police that they wouldn't take the DVD's from him without a property receipt he was tasered and taken to the local hospital for temporary involuntary commitment in a mental health facility."

    We do?

I haven't been able to find a regular flow showerhead in years. I took off the shitty low-flow one in my apartment, now I just shower straight from the pipe. It's awesome.

I hate those fucking shower heads. I just open them up and pull out the low flow assembly. Presto, a good shower head.

I live in a relatively old apartment building. Got a big, porcelain bath tub/shower with really good water pressure, and a full size turlet that I haven't managed to clog yet.

They got hip to that, now you have to take a drill bit to them.

The toilets are usually just using a valve setup that only fills so far. Easy replacement to get a full tank. :D

We had one for a while and wasted more water on flushing four times for a turbodump.
New assembly and an hour later problem solved.
