We've been down this road many times before and it always seems to lead to the same conclusion, generally speaking it's best to leave the rep system alone. By and large people enjoy the rep system as is, and there just isn't sufficient reason to fix what isn't broken. That said let's put it to a vote. Keep in mind WF isn't a democracy, Lanzman alone will be making the call. Yet an opinion poll has value.
I voted to leave it be, but as I said elsewhere, I really don't care all that much. Also, I am assuming that "eliminate negs" means "make negs not count as a minus in the rep score" rather than "you can no longer use rep to state a disagreement." If it is the latter, then I really don't want that.
Looks like Clyde created an innacurate and potentially misleading poll. Will he scrap it and post a new poll with all the options?
Will you ever just shut up and let people make a simple statement of their preference after what has already been endless discussion?
On the one hand, I have no problems with the current rep structure. Certain posters really seem to covet rep and I enjoy neg-bombing them on occasion just to freak them out. On the other hand, going with Lanz's proposal would also freak out the rep-lovers. So I'm torn.
No, 14th Doc is right this time. I imagine there is a fairly significant percentage of WF posters who wouldn't give a fuck either way. The poll does not reflect that.
So they don't care what happens? Is that what you're saying? Well then, we do have a problem, what with the forced voting laws here. If they don't vote, they'll be stripped of their land, titles, and womens. Travesty!
If you don't care, then just don't vote. You'll be content either way. Why worry about the vote at all? Unless you really do care about the outcome. The people that care will vote and the rest will go along with the people that do care. What's the problem? As I've said, everyone's already had a chance to say their piece and this is the time to say whether or not you have strong feelings for Lanz' ideas for change or just leave it alone. It's a binary choice. I'm too lazy to start (yet another) new thread but this one really should be a vote / one comment thread only, IMO but it's already past that, isn't it?
A valid logical point. However, how do you quantify the number of "I don't cares" if there's no option for it?
It's a simple poll. Adopt the proposed change OR don't. No "I don't care" option. Have nOne of you fucks voted before? You don't go to the polling place and vote "I don't care" for a proposition or candidate. You just don't vote. So vote or fuck off.
My father actually used to vote in every election, but spoil his ballot as a protest against the system. Then he died of a stroke in 2009. Coincidence?
Oh, and "Reset everybody's score and eliminate negs" isn't an accurate description of what the proposed change is. "Negs" will still exist, they just wont count against your rep score. Why is Clyde lying to Wordforge?
Not sure how it works in your pretend democracy, but in Canada you have the option of showing up at the polling station, signing in, obtaining your ballot and then handing it right back to the returning officer. It's officially recorded as "I don't like any of the options presented to me so go fuck yourself." It's true. You can look it up in the Canada Elections Act.
I mean if we did that in America that option would win every time! We would not have a president right now.
