I've declined my ballot twice. All kidding aside, I think it does send a message that you care enough about your country and your rights to show up to vote... but don't like any of the dirtbags running for office. Whether anyone actually pays attention to that message is a whole 'nother thread, but my voting conscience is clear.
Yeah, politics have become way less about caring about the voters and more about just the votes and gathering money to campaign. I dunno if The Daily Show or Colbert Report airs in Canada, but the hosts of those two shows have done a pretty good job of showing how inanely stupid the concepts of Super PAC ownership really : Here's one of the best examples and a follow-up. And all of those loopholes are completely legal.
Won't answer the question, huh? Can't say I blame you. You probably didn't realize it was a public poll.
Don't blame me, I voted for Barf Oh, and change the rep system. If only to make some people's heads explode.
Because if it changed, it would give the lie to the "Oh, the three of us only give out neg reps to the same poster all day every day because we disagree with the content of the posts." :hypocrite:
I'm sort of on the fence on this. While all the ensuing whining after a reset and rule change would be amusing, I kind of feel like I earned the rep I have(since I essentially started out in the red after immediately picking fights with Tasvir and Eminence after signing up in 2008. ). What to do?
It's kind of funny hearing Kikey Mikey, etc., talk about not caring about rep. I'm sure Evenflow would love to talk about how he doesn't either, as would Ancalagon. You know why. All of you.
I an SOOOO tempted to neg everyone that voted to keep it and pos everyone that said change it...... ~resist~
Oh the irony... the guy that is fighting tooth and nail to keep his meaningless score is calling someone else a whiner?
I don't think that option really matters. It's the same as giving 10 votes to each side - doesn't change a thing. I think we should know what the people who actually care think, since they might make a fuss if it changes.
I've changed my mind. Either leave it alone or get rid of it all together. No touchy-feely "positive only" shit. Keep it as is or ditch the whole thing. Yeah, I've been...out.
I guess I'm leaning slightly toward leaving it alone, but that's probably just habit ... if it changed, I'd get used to the new way pretty quickly. As long as the ability to post a quick agreement or comment briefly on a post without needing to create a whole new reply doesn't go away. I keep looking for an "agree" function on other boards and getting annoyed when it's not there.
Actually, I think getting rid of it entirely would cause even more of an "upset" than changing it to the positive-only system.
Honestly I don't really care. Its been a couple years since I've done the rep war thing. I like the idea of a negative comment though. Meh.
Make the values determined by a random number generator. And just for fun, set the range as being from -500 to +500, so whether you're negrepping or posrepping, you never really know if you'll increase the person's score or lower it. O2C could totally code that in five minutes, right?
