The big problem with drive-ins is that it doesn't really get dark enough to see the movie as it should be seen. But I remember going to them, and loving it. *sigh*
Once the dome inhabitants started going full-on apeshit on each other, it would quickly become more interesting to watch than the movie. I can't decide if this is a flaw or an advantage.
There's one outside of Stephen's City near Winchester. Its about an hour out from DC. Yes, they do a double feature for $8,.
That's only those drive-ins in the city. The one near where I live in Warwick, NY is in the middle of the woods. It gets nice and dark out there.
There's still one drive-in movie theater in the St. Louis area, over on the Illinois side. 2 screens, double-features on both. $10 per adult, but each adult gets two free kids admissions (12 & under), and if you're crazy enough to bring more than 2 kids per adult, the extra ones are only $3 each.
Doesn't anyone want to speak up in defense of those poor, oppressed dome-dwellers? Nobody want to argue for the freedom to bring a shrieking baby and several loud mobile devices to the theater?
How are they oppressed? Free Mountain Dew and Popcorn slurry constantly being poured in? I bet those people are in trash heaven.
Oh, and: http://www.ipictheaters.com/ /thread 21 and up members only theater. Everyone has their own deluxe theater seats, and you can order buckets of beer or actual GOOD food to go to have in the theater with you.
