I would cavaet that and say that Tasvir is probably the only one who contributes zero and we could still do without, but having said that, an amnesty would be an amnesty and should be fair, so across the board ban lifts I say.

Is he any worse than Apostle? Sure he was batshit crazy, but who cares. All the other crazies coming back makes up for that.

Aurora was just banned forever and really should have been unbanned sooner. Chup and Mewa's bans were only seven days. The other people who are back left and returned on their own...no bans involved at all.

Tasvir isn't even banned is he? His name isn't in red on the member list.

He came back as the Atrocitus dual recently and that was closed but I assume he can post as Megatron anytime he wants...

Speaking of that, Ted (as Sherlock Holmes) also appears to be unbanned.

The only names currently in red are Chris, starguard, Delaware, and CheekyMonkey... and a whole lot of outed dual accounts and spambots!

The same thing he did last time: lie to vB saying we had a pirated license, which brought down the board when the license was revoked. We might then have been blacklisted from purchasing a license, had the story not been a complete fabrication, and then no amount of backing up would have saved the board. It's really quite insidious, what he tried to do.

If he wanted to try that same tactic, would being a member make it any more likely to succeed? Would it have any bearing at all?

Tasvir was closed by request...but then he made a dual and fucked around with someone's Blue Room information and was banned. He got a staff member to unlock his Tasvir account who wasn't aware he was Atroticus, which is why Nick relocked it.

We are not going to let people use duals to violate the Blue Room and waltz back in like nothing happened with another account.

Delaware made other accounts, starguard...I can't remember what he did, nor Chris..but neither have asked to return. I thought CheekyMonkey got asylum ages ago but she never gets unlocked.

I love this Borgs fan club. I wonder how many of you in real life would welcome someone back into your home after they tried to burn it down around you? I mean, it's been a few years...who cares if he almost destroyed everything?

The board was essentially stolen from him, so it's not hard to see why he made that claim. But I assume the license is in order and that this is well documented, so the question returns -- what could he do?

Borgs never quite got that it wasn't his playground to code as he pleased, and went steadily more apeshit as noone would put up with his modifications.

I thought he owned it when he was making all the modifications and was long, long gone by the time Elwood took over?

Perhaps someone who really knows can just summarize what happened, if we're going to talk about it. Right now, this is just generating aspersions, in all directions. My memory of the discussions at the time is closer to gul's, but I didn't have more than everyone's hearsay to go on even then.

He owned it, went a little crazy, so Elwood, I think with Nick's help took control and made borgs an offer he couldn't refuse, essentially sell out or the board goes down. I won't pretend borgs was the greatest owner, but a coup is a coup, and he lost control in a way that wasn't entirely kosher. Who wouldn't have been pissed about that?

I assume, therefore, that the threat was for Nick to hack the place, or some such....in which case it seems a bit rich to target Borgs as the wrongdoer, since his actions now seem like a retaliation.

I don't know the technical details, but don't think it was as dramatic as hacking. More likely they simply changed his permissions. Both Nick and Elwood had full access, it would have been easy to do.

Then there was the whole business of registering the entire membership on his new torrent site without asking anybody if they wanted to join.

And something about wooden tokens...

I was Borgs' #2. I could no longer tolerate some of the changes he was making to the code of the board, making it fundamentally unstable and, if you recall, crashing quite often because he refused to test his code on the closed board we had for the sole purpose of that. I spoke my peace, but it was his board. So, when he refused to stop, I voted with my feet and resigned.

I knew he had this plan to copy the entire database, including member lists and all personal data over to an illegal torrent site without asking any of the membership if they wanted that or not. I knew that would cause a huge storm that would fracture the board. So, I asked Nick to help me secure hosting and a vB license so there would be a place to go besides TrekBBS and TK. We even registered a domain.

I started letting certain people know what I was doing. Rather than continue on, someone suggested making an offer to Borgs for me to take over rather than splitting the community.

I did, without threat. He was shocked, but we entered negotiations, and a settlement was reached.

I fully admit that it's just my side, and whether or not you believe any of this depends on how credible you find me to be. But, that's the unvarnished truth as best I remember it.

So he just gave it up, just like that?

Surprising. Mind you, he was a little weird.

Thank you for that. Could you continue the story up to Borgs' ban? Because at the point where you're leaving it now, it would seem he's still a member of a board he used to own.
