Do I have to clear it with the state if I want to give you the bag of chips from my Jimmy Johns combo meal?

And that several of these asshats who are interfering with her doing it need to be bodily dragged into whatever they have for a village square, propped up against something, and beaten until they shit their pants, then just left there.

Handing out smallpox & AIDS sandwiches in an effort to kill and sicken poor black children is goodness? Think of the children! The gub'mint is only looking out for them by ridding the neighborhood of this racist witch!

Next thing you know she'll be passing out books, or shoes, or who knows what else? She has to be stopped!

More power politics from the Republicans. They've gone fucking insane.

So we've got Republicans in Virginia telling a farmer she can't have kids birthday parties on her farm, but in reality are harassing farmers in general so they can get them to sell cheaply to developers.

And now we have Republicans in a Phildelphia township that are attempting to fine food giveaways by the Catholic church so they can stop food distribution that isn't coming from them for political purposes.

It sure seems to me that the Republicans have become more intransigent, reckless, and amoral when it comes to the pursuit of political and economic power these days. And they seem to be using the power of the government as a club whenever possible when they wield it. Remember Obamacare came from the Republicans in the form of Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney that they suggested as a corporate way to avoid single payer. Obama adopted it as a compromise measure that he thought would be politically acceptable to Republicans. That's what brought you the government saying you can be taxed if you don't buy a good or service - and that's what the GOP controlled Supreme Court approved.

A lot of states have Good Samaritan laws that specifically create a loophole in regulations around this kind of thing when the activity is charitable. I guess Pennsylvania lacks such a good idea? :flow:

Exactly! Both parties are guilty of this shit. They just find different ways to screw us over. And as I pointed out in the other thread, the TEA Party deserves credit where it's due because they're fighting the one in Virginia.

Despite the fact that the people its being done to state its being done for partisan reasons?

No, you don't get off that easy. The level of partisanship by the rabid right IS the reason this shit is happening more - made even more reprehensible by the hypocrisy of saying they are the party against abuses of governmental power.

There has always been partisanship, but for the vast bulk of our lives it was something that would be put aside for the good of the country when necessary.

That hasn't been true since Rove - and even he thinks its gone too far.

Someone said it, so it must be true?

We have no idea the ideology of the tattler, for example.

The problem is power hungry and greedy people of all stripes not a specific political party. After all, in other places it's democrats ripping down lemonade stands.

I understand what you are saying, and I'm not saying that the Dems don't do this too, because they do.

The difference is they used to be the primary culprit when it came to this type of absurdity, one of the reasons I was pretty anti-Dem for years.

Now however we've seen with the growing ideological purity necessary and an 'at any cost' political philosophy that seems to come with it, the Republicans are at least as bad - all the while running as the small government party.

    The hypocrisy is overwhelming.

And yes, when one woman is targeted out of hundreds performing a similar service who have been doing it for multiple decades, yes, I tend to believe her when she says its politically driven.

What we're seeing is growth in extremism, and the byproduct is that it's infecting our political system as badly as it has our social system.

Yes. Take off your donkey goggles, this is about a woman feeding children who have nothing to eat.

It shouldn't be used as fodder in the ongoing and increasingly inane elephant/donkey wars.

Look anybody can play the game, the story could be spun as a separation of church and state issue and the state has it out for the Catholic church. Or as a racial issue. Or blame...

Pardon me? What does that even mean?

Hey if you want to vent at elephants go ahead, plenty of folks do. Ranting can be kinda cathartic, funny even, but it's rarely persuasive. And this is no exception.

Being stopped by Republican partisans who are trying to use bureaucratic means to ensure that food distribution is done through their channels to give them the credit.

According to both the person doing the distribution, and the Catholic church official who overseas the program.

And of course, I've voted Republican the overwhelming majority of times in my life. The shit they are pulling these days I can't support.

It is what it is. I have no reason to believe you over the people who are there and involved.

Sure, you could pull something out of your ass.

However, part of the story is that the people who are impacted are claiming that it is being done for the reason I cited.

So I didn't pull it out my ass, I just reported the truth of the story, as opposed to the incomplete version originally presented.

Partisans always claim what they are doing isn't partisan. Because most people find partisan politics distasteful.

In this particular case, however, it's reality. I'm just yet another person pointing out that the Republicans have lost their shit over the last few years - they always seem to do it when they lose the Presidency.

The derp has been driven up a notch because of the ALIEN president (meaning - not like me).

The democratic whack jobs have backed off. Most of my big fights on the board were against the lefty's back in the day as the went insane over Bush.

    Same as it ever was.
