It was my first Elder Scroll enterprise. (X-Box 360)

Should I go backwards and get ES:Oblivion, or move onto some other sword and sorcery game?

Details: Normally I'm more into your Grand Theft Auto, Arkham Asylum or Call of Duty worlds. But I liked Skyrim because I could choose the fighting style -- I prefer swords and sneakery to magic. I liked the story arc along with the open world design and radiant quests. I liked the customization and general moral ambiguity of the story lines.

    Thoughts and recommendations?

Fallout: New Vegas + the DLCs. I'm pretty sure they made that game for you, man.

Skin read my mind on that one.

And for the best experience, play it on PC (if you have one with the juice) and looking into the New Vegas Nexus for a SHITLOAD of fucking AWESOME mods.

Yep. Get Fallout 3. You'll love it.

If you've gone through Skyrim, probably no point checking out Oblivion. It's more of the same, with a differenent storyline and slightly different setting.

And I'm sure there is more DLC coming along for Skyrim after Dawnguard, so you could wait for some of that stuff to extend your gameplay.

Speaking of GTA, you are probably already aware that GTA V is on the horizon...

You also mentioned Arkham Asylum. Have you played Arkham City? It is generally better than the first game in every way and it is more of an open world too.

I personally prefer Fallout 3 to Fallout New Vegas.
Get Fallout 3 and make sure you have all the DLC's, especially the one that extends the game beyond the original ending.

    Definitely Fallout 3.

You've probably already looked at the Skyrim fan DLCs available?

(Just in case you didn't play it at the time for whatever reason, Morrowind is arguably even better than Skyrim. In fact, it's likely one of the major games ever.)

Yep, imHo Morrowind is the best computer game ever made. Although you can only really appreciate it if you put a LOT of hours into it.

I never played Morrowind but I suspect I would prefer Skyrim (which I loved!!) over it for two reasons: the newness of the game and the whole Viking meme. The Nord homeland was what really sucked me into Skyrim in the first place.

Oh, and while Fallout 3 is a great game, I love the factions and western settings of New Vegas. You can put on your sheriff's hat, strap on your Ranger Sequoia, and bring a little justice back to the Mojave. Plus the New Vegas Bounties I and II mods are two of the greatest mods ever made made for any game, period.

Fallout 3 > Fallout New Vegas, IMHO.

If you ever get tired of Sword and Sorcery type of games and want to try out some Space opera, I'd try the Mass Effect series and the first Dead Space is a modern classic, IMHO.

How do you 'best' an ES game? They just... won't... end.

Get Fallout 3/Fallout 3 New Vegas. Should be right down your alley.

They don't end but you do get to the point where the computer is throwing absolutely ridiculous combinations of foes at you due to your level. I start to lose interest when my character is powerful enough to knock down an entire roomful of Draugr Deathlords after effortlessly swatting aside the latest two-dragon two-fer.

On my third of fourth play-through I loaded a mod that slowed level progression quite a bit. Made the game a lot more fun again after I did.

Definately experience Fallout 3 with all of the DLCs, then Fallout New Vegas and it's DLCs and packs.

I have thousands of hours into these two games and have yet to cover every possable outcome.

For the proper experience I would do them in the order they were released for the optimum experience.

You won't be sorry. I run mine on a 360 as well but running them wih a computer setup allows you to manipulate the game with a G.E.C.K..

I'm at the point where it takes longer to load going into and out of towns than it does to complete the radiant quests. I'm damn near invincible. It's a testament to the power of obsessive compulsive disorder.
