Another gun rampage it seems... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-19372533 Surprised to see this in Manhattan.
In America? Almost everyone whose anti-gun ownership. It's one of their "selling" points to try to ban guns. Especially after mass shootings.
It's starting to look like a workplace shooting scenario perpetrated by a guy who was just fired from his job. It'll be interesting to learn whether the perp shot himself or was taken out by a cop or a guard, not that it makes much difference at this point.
These days, New York -- and, specifically Manhattan -- has got to be one of the dumbest places to try to commit any kind of crime. There is literally a police officer on almost every street corner.
Valuable witness statements: Who could have guessed THAT would happen? Good to know gravity still works in NYC! In LA she would have floated into the air?
But they are standing inside the Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts. And have you seen most NYC police officers? They look like a bunch of rent-a-cops at the mall. Hardly a force to be feared.
Now we get to hear the same tiresome handwringing masquarading as a "debate" on the issue, while virtually everyone maintains that these regular shootings have nothing - nothing at all - to do with social problems that could concievably be fixed.
I don't think "virtually everyone" maintains anything of the sort. It's just that nobody can agree on which ones should be fixed, or how to fix them.
Here's your chance to drive things in another direction, although I'm not sure this particular shooting will work well for the social problems angle.
They fired the guy on a Thursday?..idiots you fire them on Friday so they have 2 days to cool off before resorting to going postal
Okay, so in your mind what social problems need to be fixed that would prevent these types of atrocities? Serious question.
Hold on, police wounded several bystanders? I thought that the reason we didn't want civilians carrying guns was because of crossfire, because police training means they have magic gun powers.
Yeah, I know: If he was carrying it in Manhattan, it wasn't legal. (Constitution notwithstanding...) And watch: it's going to be painted otherwise, but the sad truth is that the perp killed the one person he was trying to kill, while the cops managed to kill the perp AND wound a whole assload of bystanders. Anything wrong with this picture?
