Most of you have never heard this - regardless, second version is a little more well known. So...45 seconds or so into the second version - is the singer Bobby Bloom the bastard love child of Ted Danson and the Geico Caveman? I'd like to think he is! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pcZGz0QtNM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXjVd0TeOX0
Since you brought up Disturbed, you remind me of another well done cover by that band: [yt=Genesis]Ac-wto_Ur6A[/yt] [yt=Disturbed]YV4oYkIeGJc[/yt]
Let' s try for a three man deathmatch here. Blinded by the Light: [YT="From the Boss"]7Iaca30QbOo[/YT] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Iaca30QbOo [YT="From Manfred Mann's Earth Band"]xJh47LybCkU[/YT] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJh47LybCkU [YT="And from the very bowels of Satan's Septic Tank"]sv_Eq2gclzk[/YT] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sv_Eq2gclzk
I can't take any song seriously which includes the line "wrapped up like a douche" (yeah i know I know! That's not what the line is but it sure as hel sounds like it!)
OMG! Bruce Springsteen should punch Li'l Wayne right in the throat! Oops, too late. Sounds like he already did.
Whoa.....there's covering a song, then there's OWNING it...destroying it if you will. Big plus, no string section in the DIO version. Strings are great - in classical music. Fiddles are cool, though pretty much everywhere. If you have to ask the difference between a violin and fiddle, I can't help you. Regardless, may I present original and cover: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ynrSEjHyRI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7KTRpmeTdM
[Note - For those who can't access YouTube the song in question is "Dream On"] Dio did a fine version but it lacked the crescendo of the Aerosmith version.
3 of my favorite cover songs (sorry, not posting the originals) [yt=I Feel For You]1XV5_WagxZg[/yt] [yt=Time After Time]UZC8J5oX1pg[/yt] [yt=I'll Be Your Baby Tonight]6wuSj6sPHIQ[/yt]
I'll be branded a heretic for sure, but I prefer Alien Ant Farm's cover of "Smooth Criminal" to Michael Jackson's original. I don't know why. Obviously not the video, just the music.
That up tempo cover by Robert Palmer is very good. Here's the 1967 original by Bob Dylan. [YT="I'll be Your Baby Tonight"]Aolo2UgzrK8[/YT] From the John Wesley Harding album. Written by Bob Dylan.
Oh .., Sweetie ... No. Two of my favorite covers I'm a Believer - Smashing Pumpkings On a Jet Plane - Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
Easy - Commodores or Faith No More? Faith actually brings something unique to the table, but it's too close to call. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XcTyEKSnYg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFd7hrUKjqQ
While the cover isn't better than the original the guitar solo certainly is, jump to about 3:20 in to hear what I mean. [YT="While My Guitar Gently Weeps "]x_2tSGxGnJQ[/YT]
Speaking of guitars gently weeping - put one in my hands and it will soon be bawling to be put out of it's misery. Regardless, when I played piano they called me "lightning" not because I was fast, but because I never struck the same place twice.
The Fiddle And The Drum [yt=O - Joni Mitchell]u6z79WMOPtk[/yt] [yt=C - A Perfect Circle]_B6kheJ8zks[/yt] The cover is much better. Not discounting that the original is "live" and the cover is in studio, the vocals are just better.
Land of Confusion [yt=O - Genesis]zU9lv_WqK6k[/yt] [yt=C - Disturbed]u6KXgjLqSTg[/yt] Tough to say which one's better with this one.
DISTURBED gets OWNED when Richard Cheese nails "Down With The Sickness." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBOpk33VlSg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlGoCz4KBo0
I knew there was another version of "Up On The Roof", one with a deeper lead voice and less backup and so on. And now, I believe, I have finally found who performed it: [yt=Kenny Lynch]7xgILgbt3kc[/yt] This isn't the recording I remember on the radio, but the voice sounds nearly right. The original performers, the ones I kept running into, were: [yt=The Drifters]lpVUAYCBJR8[/yt] I prefer the version I remember, but it's down to personal taste really, as there's certainly nothing wrong with the Drifters' version.
