A momma bear and two baby bears hung out behind the house from about lunch time to late afternoon. Ain't they supposed to be asleep?
And my idiot neighbor stood 50 feet away from them with a camera making kissy noises to get their attention. I was SO hoping to get his death on camera, but the bears wandered off eventually.
Looks healthy. It's coat looks smooth and not "mangy". Beautiful animal no doubt. BTW I'm guessing your neighbor doesn't know that a laconic, mellow bear like this can switch gears and can cover those fifty feet in less time than it takes for him to soil himself.
Whoa! A mother bear with BABIES (who could feel trapped or threatened at any moment with all the houses around) and your neighbor was trying to get their attention?
That would have been great for "Best Week Ever" or "When Animals Attack" or even "Tosh.0" I wish our Georgia bears came into yards more often, so Honey Boo Boo could end their series with a bang!
Black bears generally won't go berserk unless you get between them and the cubs, so they're just as likely to take off in the opposite direction as anything. Still, animals are unpredictable, and that guy was a retard for doing that.
True, but this bear had cubs with her. I wouldn't take the risk of accidentally getting near her cubs. I've encountered black bears up close and personal in Alaska without cubs and I have developed a very healthy respect for them, that's for sure. I would go inside if a bear came into my yard just to be on the safe side. Anything can suddenly upset them in a residential area, they are fun to watch, but not worth the risk.
Too bad Darwin's law didn't strike again We have wolves out back of our backyard, my husband has been trying to shoot them for awhile now. Big bounty on them here. and a 2-3000 lb buffalo that meanders around our yard occasionally comes for a walk with us but I still wouldn't want to make kissy noises at him lol
He lets the kids pet him. My youngest thinks he's a pony. Bears are good to eat too. We've had them in our freezer a time or two our neighbour down the road was in her hot tub and one came to say hi lmao.
No matter the circumstances?? What if they were hollywood style man eating wolves and they were eyeing up the Lanzwoman??
I have a very hard time killing any predator or large mammal. Rabbits, squirrels, etc. I just don't care much about. Even large predator fish (bass, muskies, etc.) I will not kill (eat) unless I have to. Bluegills, perch, and other pan-fish I don't care about.
I would worry too much about the safety of my animals to suffer a wolf being in proximity to them, and by proximity I mean within about 10 miles.
I dared to call it "the woods behind my house" once, and Elwood made fun of me for thinking a copse of trees was worthy of the name "woods".
Yes well. Wolves are a nusiance here and they are killing the livestock. Plus...they view the kids as lunch We don't really tend to exterminate anything unless its an actual problem. I've actually seen them - they are beautiful. But even the coyotes are as large as german shepherds and they like to sit by the fence and watch us play outside. Creepy.
True about northern coyotes (like when I lived in northern Wisconsin) they are bigger compared to our Georgia coyotes. If they compete with the wolves for pretty much the same food, will the coyotes drive out the wolves with their superior numbers? This is an interesting thing as coyotes expand their range into wolf territory, which is happening across much of North America. Conversely, re-introduced wolves compete with established coyote populations too.
