44 for me. Obvious big gaps are Australia, Russia, Africa and a bit more Latin America (even though I've spent ~3 months total there!).
Hurm, lemme think . . . USA Canada Japan Argentina Spain England Scotland Italy Kenya Philippines Switzerland Hungary Austria Germany Czech Republic British Indian Ocean Territory Antarctica I think that's it. Those last two aren't countries, per se, but what the hell.
Thought I'de been to more than this, says 29 but it doesn't count England, Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland etc. Maybe im forgetting a few others. *Edit, I missed Luxembourg and Vatican City. Wouldn't make a visible difference to the red on the map but would take my total to 31.
Belgium Botswana Indonesia Mexico The Netherlands South Africa UK US Zimbabwe . . . with layovers/quick stops in France, South Korea, and Germany. Have seen a good bit of Canada, Russia, China, and a bunch of African countries from the comfort of planes. I hope to go somewhere in South America in about a year!
12 for me. Although shading Mexico in following a 3 hour visit to Tijuana feels like cheating. As does shading in the entirety of the US when I've been to 3 states.
14 for me. US Canada Mexico UK France Switzerland Austria Italy Liechtenstein Germany Hungary Belgium Netherlands Luxembourg
^ Liechtenstein! VERY tiny country yes? About the size of a matchbox car Funny how many Americans DON'T know about shoebox sized countries, like Liechtenstein, Lesotho, San Marino, etc. Maybe EVEN Vatican City(?). But with so many American Catholics & the Church in the media alot, especially now, Vatican City's nation status is probably better known. Maybe(?).
Tried doing it - wife distracted me and it locked up. Anyway, a shitload, including North Korea (but only for about thirty seconds or so at the DMZ).
I'll have to Google it, but I'm pretty sure Vatican City is its own independent nation. No! They're just the UK counterpart of U.S. states.
You've been there, so it counts regardless. But I understand your point. It's like going to a museum, seeing one floor or most of just that one floor, but none of the rest of it due to time, yet officially/technically you've been to that museum. Even though there are a dozen floors to see.
Cool, didn't notice the US states map before. I've been to 38, but I'm having trouble pasting the map from my tablet.
16 U.S. states as well (pretty sure about those, may have also passed through Tennesse, Kentucky, Rhode Island, and Connecticut but not sure so leaving them out).
It's just too far away. I mean, it's not like I could just day trip it to Montreal or something. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&a...ei=HC87UfjpCKXN0wHMhoC4Aw&ved=0CAsQ_AUoBQ
56 for me, including stuff like the Vatican and Liechtenstein. Some glaring holes like Russia and Australia (which I travelled when I was 3 years old so it doesn't really count). I also didn't include stopovers since technically you don't enter the country.
Well yes, I did get around a bit privately and on the job. But a large count is easier in Europe. Austria alone has eight neighboring countries, none more than two to three hours of driving from the country's center.
