What was there to be vigilant about? Guys with backpacks? Guys wearing hats? What was there to look for?
So you want to fund them even though you don't think they work. Unless, of course, you can think of something that you believe would work.
The terrorists have won. I just heard that by 2300 GMT there will no more US troops occupying Chechnya. Way to go Obama!
No. You asked how to do it without raising taxes. I showed how to do it without raising taxes. I never said shit about wanting it to be done, thinking it should be done, or anything else. You asked, and I answered, how to do it.
I am trying to figure out why the entire city of Boston shut down because of one armed 19 year old in a man hunt. There have been several man hunts around here and we didn't do that. You remember Eric Rudolph? He was in hiding around her for a while and he did the olympic bombing. The FBI had a big party in the woods for months and didn't do shit. A deputy in murphy found him digging in a dumpster. I reckon everybody locks and loads and keeps an eye out for them but we don't shut down or lock down or whatever.
So, no lockdown in the NC woods equals a months long FBI party, whereas about 12 hours of shelter in place in a packed urban zone containing more than a million people results in an arrest without any civilian harm. I say we go with the method that works is the method that works.
So when it's somebody trying to put words in your mouth (as opposed to you doing the same to somebody else), then you become aware that there's a focus to the discussion. Right.
Wrong. The focus was in Post #62 over 24 hours ago. Feel free to respond with something of substance anytime you're ready. Or just do your little scatological boogie.
Confirmed, then. You're with EP in thinking PSAs will solve the problem. And since you haven't denied it, we'll put you down for "Misses the color-codes, too."
This is the lazy way out. You know the phrases "be the change you wish to see" or "don't be afraid to create the world you want to live in"? They're not just cliches. You seem happy to bemoan the stupidity of everyone else on the planet and complain about society's problems as if you were some kind of dispassionate alien observer, or to act as if helping to solve problems is completely beyond anyone's grasp, but it's NOT. What can you do to help create the world you want to live in? For me, it's local activism: I'm the volunteer marketing coordinator for an art festival in my town, and a friend and I cofounded a monthly event that we hope will play a role in the revitalization of our community's downtown. Every day I'm surrounded by people who are making a difference in their own creative ways. They could have thrown up their hands, declared the world's problems unsolvable, and slunk back to their parents' basements to lead lives of quiet despair. But they chose to stop griping, get off their asses and DO something about it. See a problem? Try to fix it, even in your own small way. It's not that hard.
A TSA agent recommended a healthier place to eat at the airport other than the Sbarro's or McDonald's. This was while he was feeling me up after I opted out of a body scan. It was also after me asking for food recommendations because I hadn't really spent much time in that airport before. But other than that, zilch!
Are you really this stupid? Why do you think? There are almost a million people in Boston, getting them off the street eliminates any traffic issues, keeps people off the street where bombs may have been set and not found yet. Makes hostages less handy and makes any people with nowhere to go, like a man on the run, stick out and easier to find in general. Also percentage wise, it makes the majority of the population safer to be tucked away in their homes as it's less likely their home will be one chosen by the perp to use. Duh.

Most importantly, much less chance of being collateral damage. Duh.
Dicky once again showing how he has a wit like Carlin, Hicks, Bruce, Twain, and every medieval jester ever!
