They'd have gotten to watch it on the teevee :hyper: and come roaring in here either (A) demanding we "bomb them back to the Stone Age" or (B) doing their little SCoaMF dance.

Or both. The kiddies are bored. They need to watch something blow up.

Just b/c the screeching is really loud in your echo chamber doesn't mean anyone else cares. Much less that anyone will care once this blows over.

Honestly, unless there is more to the story, right now this helps Hillary in 16 (if she decides to run). The right has just blown its load and so far come up with nothing.

Most people don't care at all. Republicans are following this and think it is huge. Dems fully back the administration. Independents don't buy either sides account, but think this is not a big deal and Congress should focus on more important issues.

If nothing new comes up this will end up blowing up in Congressional Republicans faces. More political theater instead of governance.

The danger to Hillary Clintons presidential dreams in 2016 is not from the conservatives or the GOP.

The danger is that this and other issues with her will either

    1) Make her decide that battling on when she is pushing 70 is not worth it.

    2) Convince several million Democratic primary voters that she "had her chance" and that they might consider a younger, fresher face for the nomination without the baggage.

Remember, the Democratic Party has already soundly rejected Hillary Clinton as their nominee once.

And unlike the Republicans (who tend to have a "wait your turn" thing about the nomination) the Democrats don't tend to nominate people who have failed to be nominated already.

Yep, and they have no awareness of how foolish they look. 39% of people who think this is a big deal don't even know where Benghazi is.

You have to admit it's fun watching them run around in a frenzy. They'll exhaust themselves long before '16.

While voters overall may think Congress' focus should be elsewhere there's no doubt about how mad Republicans are about Benghazi. 41% say they consider this to be the biggest political scandal in American history to only 43% who disagree with that sentiment. Only 10% of Democrats and 20% of independents share that feeling. Republicans think by a 74/19 margin than Benghazi is a worse political scandal than Watergate, by a 74/12 margin that it's worse than Teapot Dome, and by a 70/20 margin that it's worse than Iran Contra.

It's mind boggling how out of touch with reality/public-as-a-whole the Republicans have gotten. Just look back at some of there representatives in this thread.

I think I might have to reconsider my stance on Dayton's electability. :jayzus:

Seriously though, if they don't step outside of their echo chamber soon (not very likely considering how they treated the 2012 autopsy) while they might get some bumps during midterms when their base (old, white and angry) has high turnout they will continue to be trounced (won 1 out of last 6 popular votes) in presidential years. And even their midterm strength will wane.

They don't have much time either. Right now they control the House only b/c of gerrymandering (more people voted for Dem reps than Rep). That's due to the last census year being a midterm year. 2020 will be a presidential year so look for Republican control of state legislatures (and thus redistricting) to be less.

On the surface, this seems completely insane. But these people have been conditioned to think Barack Obama is not only the worst president ever but is actively plotting to destroy the country. So of course they're going to think any scandal he's involved in is worse than any other scandal involving any other president.

The fact remains, this isn't a "scandal" at all.

No, the insane part is that Obama's words and deeds are solid evidence of those positions. Stop blaming the victim -- the American people -- and look to the asshole whose every word and deed validates that finding.

First, that isn't a fact at all. Not in the least. Second, if you want to pass it off as being an "invention" of those who hate Obama, you're going to have to resurrect the four people who died.

Bring 'em back to life, Mikey. Then you can claim that Obama is holy and you think his cock tastes like mana. Until then, you're a sycophantic moron and we're going to treat you like a sycophantic moron.

Oh, they definitely died. Nobody invented that angle, and you're crazier than I thought to even suggest such a thing. The invention is the idea that dead diplomats in a dangerous part of the world requires intentionality by the State Department. They're dead because some fuckheads decided to kill them. That's the story. Anything you add to that is delusion.
