Seriously, in what alternate universe is this true? Obama has virtually nothing to do with any of the "scandals" that are floating around, most of which aren't even scandals. Nixon was directly involved in ordering and covering up serious crimes committed by people at the very top of his administration, and lied continuously about his involvement, up until the moment where he literally couldn't lie anymore. So I guess you're right that there's no comparison.
What I love about this thread, is conservatives throwing Nixon under the bus to get at Obama. So...another 10 years for Reagan then?
Nixon was a crook. Plus he was paranoid. But at least he didn't take out his lunacy directly on the American people, just his political enemies. Obama is a whole other kettle of fish. Between his myriad of Executive Orders to circumvent the legal political process, to instituting NDAA, to expanding the Federal government's intrusion into our personal lives more than any other President in our history. For that alone he should be fired and imprisoned.
Yeah. Imagine comparing any of Obama's supposed treasons to selling arms for hostages with a country like Iran. Reagan might have been a great president in some ways. But he sure as fuck should have been in jail.
Reagan would be thrown under the bus in a matter of seconds if the current GOP remembered who he actually was. But hey, he won elections against Democrats, pay no attention to the fact that his politics had more in common with Barack Obama than they did with Eric Cantor or Paul Ryan.

AM is right. From a "literal" standpoint Nixon was never impeached. But. Being impeached AND removed from office was inevitable at the time he resigned. His aides asked Republican members of the House and Senate how many would support him when it came to a vote and the numbers showed clearly that impeachment and conviction (removal by the Senate) were inevitable no matter what else was revealed.
What I find amusing about the way people here argue and bicker is I doubt, aside from very few, none of you really LIKE Obama or Bush, yet defend your "side" like it were actually important. For all the defense gul, or actormike, or garamet might do for Obama, and Volpone or whoever else might do for Bush, if you asked them "Do you really like the guy" I bet most would say "not really". Let it go, man! They are ALL self absorbed power-mongers, and dollars to doughnuts, they are ALL ignorant assholes unqualified for their position. Embrace their mediocrity! Tricky question. As a human being? I don't personally know the guy. No idea. The persona? Well, then that can be cut up into a zillion pieces. Everyone's got a different one they've constructed. The left wing blogosphere, the right wing blogosphere, talk radio, Fox, MSNBC, etc, etc. The Obama that pissed of Sokar, that guy I like. The Obama who has yet to close Gitmo, not as much.
