Gun ownership isn't on the rise. Its also been steadily trending downward.

Gun sales are up because the paranoid go out and make the gun manufacturers huge profits every time there's a major shooting and the concept of gun control gets brought up again.

Got to buy them all before they are illegal! So the number of gun owners stays as it ever was, but gun sales spike.

This is BASIC shit people, and anyone that wanted to write an article like this certainly already knows these facts.

But that's not the point, is it - because they can spin it for their own agenda.

Gun ownership going down matching gun crime going down isn't what Forbes wants you to think.

Of course, we have confirmation bias here - 64% of gun owners are white males. 32% of Americans are white males. 82% of gun owners are white. Libertarian and Republican boards are dominated by white males. I'm sure its true when you say you grew up always exposed to guns and most of the people you know own a gun. You aren't indicative of America anymore though.

    Echo chamber.

Also known as an inability to distinguish basic facts.

So I guess 82 percent of the American population commit 82 percent of the gun crimes then, correct? No? Hmmm.....imagine that.

So among minorities then most of them did not "grow up with guns" yet sure do take to them like a duck takes to water!

And taking the guns away from that 82 percent while the remaining population keep their guns (since criminals tend to not be responsible and law abiding) that are used in committing violent crimes would be a good idea how exactly?

Entirely not the point I was making.

Though that does underscore the 'inability to distinguish basic facts' clause, so I guess you were correct on one score.

    NRA talking point.

Racism or ignorance, probably based on an NRA talking point.

So when exactly did they break down your door and take your guns?

Got stats to back that up or is it just your opinion? On the flip side, and yes it's anecdotal, but I and other instructors are constantly teaching courses to new firearms owners. If there weren't new owners we couldn't make a buck teaching classes. So in my and others observations, the number of new owners has increased and it's been going on over the years with a spike post Sandy Hook.

    It's the liberal mind trick.

"If I say it, you'll believe it. If you believe it, you'll act on it. If you act on it, it will eventually become true."

Interesting graphic. I'm curious how they they got their stats back in December. They are in conflict with the FBI, who reported 2 weeks ago numbers that are much lower and are at historic lows across the board.

Yeah, it's called (1) "He's been posting stats in numerous threads; if you were really following this you'd have noticed" and (2) "It's a holiday weekend and some people have lives."

Haven't you all figured out Maggie's game by now? She never says *anything* specific, therefore she thinks she can't be held accountable for any positions on any particular issues.

The most she'll do is piggyback on someone else's stated opinion, saying "I mostly agree with what this person wrote," but never specify exactly what parts she agrees or disagrees with.

Thatcher was quite clear in her positions. You couldn't be more mistaken.
