More fictional imaginings. You decide things that must be and act as if they are facts. You are wrong.
Well, @Jamey Whistler, we have a poster who: Didn't change his privacy settings, so he was visible in Who's Online for about two weeks Can't seem to figure out whose post he's responding to, but nevertheless Is lecturing others on their "technical ineptitude" Nice to see you come out of the woodwork for a change, though. When was the last time you actually posted, anyway?
It's not exactly hard, seeing as how the list automatically pops up in the sidebar and there usually aren't that many people on it...
I find your statement that Tamar would still be an admin had she not "voluntarily" stepped down to be incongruent with you repping every anti-Tamar post you see. I can only surmise that the reason she is allowed to continue to hang around on the fringes of administration is that there is a fear that if her insider access were completely shut off (which is what should happen), she could and would somehow sabotage the site or reveal a wealth of embarrassing info about various people.
No, just noticing that every time I logged on, there he was. And when I logged out, he was still there. And if I came back later in the day, he was still there. Rinse, repeat. As tafkats points out, it isn't that difficult to see the names.
I would guess thanks to tabbed browsing some people may just leave WF open in a tab. I have tabs that have been open on my browser for weeks.
They probably do. I've done it. Nothing wrong with it per se. It's just amusing to have a third party repeating "Oh, he's much too busy with family and work and RL to post here" when there's his name in the list.
Garamet is one to talk about others being constantly logged on. She, Tamar and Dickynoo are the three here who seem to have nothing better to do than post endlessly all day every day. Tamar & Diacanu are understandable as they're bed-ridden invalids, and its especially difficult for Tamar to type while in her iron lung. But Garamet? You'd think being a professional author would be more time consuming. I guess her forced exile from the Trek franchise has left her with a lot of free time.
I am not here all day, every day. I was here a lot more when I was on staff. I come and go, shit-for-brains....often for five or ten minutes at a time. I suggest you actually look at my posting history and how many posts I make in a day before declaring I do it "endlessly".
Never said I wasn't. The point is, I don't claim (or have someone else claim for me) that I'm "too busy with RL to post" when I'm right here. Will you ever be able to address me directly instead of talking past me? The "exile" ended in 2002, as the three novels, one novella, and one short story published since might indicate. As for Writing and the Gentle Art of Multitasking, if you'd like to start a thread in the Workshop, I - and I'm sure the other writers here as well - would be happen to explain how it works.
If he keeps his computer on all the time, and has WF tabbed all the time, it would look like he is here when he is really busy doing other things IRL. You can't tell if he is actually here or if his computer is just parked here. Not only that, haven't you been busy enough to not have time to post, but do have occasional times where you can read for a bit? I know I've left my computer on an interesting thread and would read from it when I took breaks from other activities. And finally...it's really none of anyone's business how anyone chooses to enjoy Wordforge. If someone wants people to think they are busy and that's the word they put out...so what? It's not like joining Wordforge is like some obligation to answer to every dippety-do who wants to ride your ass.
You surmise wrong. I don't want a staff echo chamber. Over time, I want to see some regular rotation, and she would be among the folks rotating out at some point, but for now, her experience and knowledge amassed over congrats is invaluable.
