Do we still have to include insults in the beginning of a red room thread just to keep it there? It's stupid, its childish, and really doesn't present well, especially when the insult is in the title. I demand change.
I propose that all threads including "Fuck Baba in the ass with a giant spiked dildo" in the thread title be moved to the Green Room.
Was that ever a rule? I thought people did that as a joke. Generally, I'd say most threads started in the Red Room will stay there, whether or not people are flaming and trolling. The exception would be something that is pretty clearly oriented toward the themes of another room, but even then, I'd probably check with the person who started the thread regarding their intent.
It was, but there was also a phase where it was necessary to keep some threads from being moved to the Green Room under administrative "Why Is This in the Red Room?" discretion.
No matter what reason the red room says it exist, most view it as just the most visited general forum.
I thought the purpose of the RR was similar to that of TNZ on TBBS... So for anyting that isn't light and fluffy...
More or less. For a while if you posted something in the Red Room that wasn't "edgy" or "controversial" enough, it'd get moved. Unless some Red Room appropriate flaming had already occurred in the thread, in which case the flaming served as an "anchor," letting the thread remain in the RR. Starguard basically got banned for starting too many Cleopatra threads in the Red Room without including an anchor.
It was never a real rule, and I never treated it as such. The whole "red room/green room" thing is a holdover from the old Misc./TNZ wars. It was stupid then and it's stupid now. There aren't enough people here to justify so many forums, and the "flaming" rules are both antiquated and diametrically opposed to the original spirit of this board. In other words, we should merge both and ignore the guy who calls you an asshole because you don't like his choice of beer.
