I'm working on my massive game backlog. I did manage to finish Tomb Raider (2013) thanks to Ted Cruz and John Boehner.
FIFA Soccer 14, mostly online. It makes me more agressive than any ego shooter ever could. My PS3 controller has a lot to endure.
Jacob and the Gyrocopter Nerdook is good at taking a simple concept and building a little fun complexity and customization around it. The concept here is a sidescroller where you pick one of your .mp3 songs, and the game plays it as it generates enemies based on different aspects of the recording. You earn new sprites and weapons for yourself as the game progresses. The enemy sprites are maybe a little raw for something you're going to be seeing scores of, but it's a fun little diversion I pull out once every few months. Bob the Robber 2 Puzzle game where you move around a house, sneaking past cameras and locks and smacking guards. Kinda fun. I'm starting to get to where I have to do moderately complicated things under time pressure, which is not a thing I enjoy in puzzle games.
I played a ton of WWE2k14 this week. That game is totally okay, and the 30 Years of Wrestlemania mode was pretty cool (though they focused too much on the more recent events and not enough on old stuff.) Also, thanks for the bump!
Finished The Last of Us and Infamous 2. Now playing Uncharted 3...then back to the Assassin's Creed franchise.
Been running in the new clan dungeon in Kingdom of Loathing the last few days. Just three of us doing it, but it's nearly done. Not really thrilled by the boss loot we've got (I'm just that much more of a have than a have-not at this point), but the fighting had fun mechanics, the writing was good, the bosses are difficult in their own special ways, and managing my resources was an interesting challenge, so it's a win for the design team in my book.
Lately I've been playing a game called Forge Of Empires and Tribal Wars. Didn't think I'd get so addicted haha Sent from my GT-S5570 using Tapatalk 2
Entirely too much Planetside 2. I've started Metro 3022, Saints Row the Third, Kingdom Hearts, and Bioshock but as with most MMOs, there is always something left to do on Planetside and single player games will always be there.
I absolutely loved Uncharted 3. Great game!! What did you think of inFAMOUS 2? I competed Batman Arkham Origins a few weeks ago. It was completely enjoyable, but it did lack the polish and some unexplainable quality that the originators of the game provide. I think the secret is that the Arkham games are truly a "rhythm game" moreso than a combat game. The result is that when you do fail as Batman, you don't feel like the game cheated you, you feel like you failed Batman... With that said, the game is crazy fun!! Since then I went back to Diablo III.
I've been playing a bunch of Call of Juarez Gunslinger. That game is really cool. You're playing the story as a kid in the wild west listening to this old legend tell his stories which you've read about in the "Dime novels." You play exclusively as the old legend, but as he narrates the stories, things change, and the kid butts in with what he read in the dime novels. It's a very cool way to tell a story, and it's only $15.
I liked both Uncharted 3 and InFamous 2...looking forward to Second Son. I can't force myself to play my Assassins Creed backlog of games though. It seems the 3 that I need to finish before Black Flag really are fairly repetative...and like I said before, the AC games are so damned long...which sucks if you are trying to finish a backlog. It doesn't help that I've read some statements from people saying that it looks like they don't have any plans to wrap up the story anytime soon, I was also spoiled on a major character death. It also doesn't help that I'm more interested in the present/future part of the story than the historical parts. So short answer is I may just read the wiki articles on the unfinished ones and skip to Black Flag, but kinda doubtful at this point. There are several next gen games I'm looking forward to, it's a shame none of them are launch titles.
I've been playing Two Worlds recently. It's an open world RPG from about the same time as Oblivion. I've got very mixed feelings about it. The combat and character development systems are phenomenal, much better than anything in the Elder Scrolls games, but the writing, voice acting, and interface range from bad to terrible to migraine inducing. Armor, weapons, and alchemy ingredients are very poorly balanced. The quest pointers on the map are often inscrutable and the magic system is a power gamer's nightmare seemingly designed to make sure that everyone plays a character that only uses a very limited number of support spells--if you want to use any more than three of the available 70+ spells you'll be pausing and clicking to reset your spells often enough to induce insanity. The game makes me wish there were a well developed modding community for it because the combat and character systems could be used for great things and the magic system could be readily tweaked into something good; alas, there isn't one. I don't think I'll actually finish playing it. Developing a character at the lower levels was fun and sucked me in, and my character is easily strong enough to finish the game, but the storyline has no appeal and given the inscrutability of the quest markers a speed run through the rest of the game would mean constantly going back and forth between the game and an online walkthrough.
Well, got my Elder Scrolls Online beta invite. Downloaded it (after clearing up a ton of space on my hard drive) and tried logging in just now, at 1:30 in the morning. Server full. That would be a huge bummer if I deleted all this junk from my computer and spent a ton of time downloading a thing to not be able to play it. The beta is only up for the weekend.
just keep trying, it took me a few tries but finally got in and made it through the first part of the game. Then after trying to exit the starting area it seems to have stuck on a loading page. I was in a previous beta weekend and now this one. I'm not overly impressed with the game, but that could be more due to extreme MMO burnout. It doesn't help that the Elderscrolls color pallet seems to be 100% greyscale.
Icarus Needs -- just a cute little 10-minute platformer with amusing dialogue. Creeper World: Evermore -- Basically a tower defense . . . except the enemy never stops coming, the enemy slowly floods the terrain instead of following a path, and most of your towers are movable. Also, there are almost no upgrades to worry about. This is a really good, really fun series. Deeper Sleep -- The original is a really creepy, imaginative point-and-click puzzle game, and so far this has been as well. Zombotron 2 -- platformer where you're on an alien planet shooting zombies. Fun enough. The, er, interactions between zombies and environment help to make up for slightly annoying movement controls. I don't remember the original having a storyline, but I probably didn't get all that far.
Well, here's what I've played since I last checked in. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. I finished it, it was short but good. Far Cry 3: I just started this one, but it's also pretty good. Spelunky: Played a little bit of this, trying to play it more, but other stuff keeps coming up. Gunpoint: Same thing, though this one has a tangible end and doesn't leave me super frustrated afterwards. Definitely going to play more of this. Hearthstone: Just got my beta invite, probably going to sink some time into this one. Dust an Elysian Tail: I don't know if I'm gonna be able to take some of the voices, but I've heard it's great, so I'm gonna try playing through it.
I just got a new computer (arrived yesterday...) and I decided to try out Neverwinter Online. Pretty game, very pretty. A bit much much on the initial hand-holding though. One only gets two character slots for free and I went with the Ranger and Wizard. Fun, but I can't see it lasting more than a couple months at most.
Recently, I've been into Hearthstone more than other games. Like other Blizzard games, they managed to take a concept and make it addictingly enjoyable. I've unlocked all the decks in Practice mode, except for the Rogue. Haven't spent any real cash yet, though if my Hearthstone addiction sticks I can see myself putting down a few bucks in the future. I've been playing multiplayer Minecraft with a good community of gamers. I'm learning a lot about Redstone circuitry, my current project is to build an automated wheat farm. Other than that, been playing Neverwinter with a friend of mine. Our characters are both level 18. Great game.
I only got as far as the unlocking the second character in practice mode and couldn't get into it. I really just want to try out the arena since that seems like the coolest thing, but it's locked until I beat all the other heroes which is super tedious. I'm already playing a whole lot of MTG, and in my spare time for free to play card games I already have Solforge.
Crimbo Town is open in KoL, and this year we're battling robot bears. Robot bears with serious environmental damage and hard damage caps. I've wound up needing seven rounds per battle for optimal resource management and, well . . . hello combat macros, never thought I'd be using you but I need your help here.
So I've been playing Guacamelee. That game plays really well, and can be funny at times. It uses internet humor sometimes which I don't like, but it's my only real complaint. "Trololololol" is not good dialogue for a game. The Mexican theme is sweet, as is the music. Definitely recommend it. I also played a little bit of Dust: An Elysian Tail. I knew this going in, but Fidget's voice is going to drive me nuts, and there's no way to turn it off. At least in Recettear, another game where the voices bothered me, there was an option to turn it off, but if I want to get rid of voices I need to turn off all sound effects as well. Probably going to go back to it after Guacamelee is done, because it's a good game.
I played Guacamelee this spring on PS3/Vita. I'm glad that Steam users are finally getting a chance to experience Drinkbox Studio's great games. Be on the look out for Tales from Space: About A Blob and Mutant Blobs Attack.
I just played through Broken Age Part 1. That was a great experience. The puzzles were pretty simple, but still enjoyable. All you non-kickstarter suckers can't buy it until the 28th I think. Definitely worth playing.
I've been playing a lot of World of Tanks lately. It's free to play, but in order to keep from having to sell tanks I liked while still moving up, I ended up spending some money. Don't really mind having spent some money on it either, as it's a pretty fun game. I also bought a premium tank called the TOG II which is pretty fun to play.
