I think at this point there's been more than enough evidence provided to show that GamerGate is not some collection of women-hating basement dwellers the media makes it out to be. The "GG is a bunch of women haters" crowd in this thread has had plenty of opportunities to look at both sides of the issue; they're either too indifferent/spiteful of game culture to be bothered with research, or too interested in playing the part of little internet white knights galloping to the rescue of the poor damsels in distress to use their brain. Either way, I have yet to see anyone actually engaging with the evidence provided and coming to their own conclusions. This post is a good example of why Gamergate keeps failing. They don't seem to realize that they need to tune their message in order to communicate effectively outside their subculture. Nobody in the real world gives a flying fuck about red pill memes. All it looks like is casually brushing off the very real death threats and harassment, which is never going to go over well with uninvested bystanders (aka the people you need to convince your cause is worthwhile). Missing the point. Police have limited resources and have to prioritize which threats they investigate. Even a non-credible threat is still illegal, however, and cackling "lol trolled u gud" won't do a whole lot for you when you're getting taken away in handcuffs for failing to realize the real world doesn't operate according to the rules of obscure internet forums and MMOs. Well most of the basement dwelling gamers are a bit hard to lure out, however I did find my best friend by dragging him out of WOW and showing him anime conventions. He is still a die hard geek boy, won't change that, but he is fun to hang out with, and generally agreeable. ..........Actually thinking about how many tries I took on bobbing for gamers it is probably a good idea for most to call it a lost cause. You would not believe the mass of some of the anchors I have dragged up out of the depths of the basement.
I am a film buff, as are many of my friends. Not to the extent of the elite, but we are pretty decent. These friends of mine have developed certain skills you have in gamerland. One of my friends makes chain and ringmail armor. He figured out how to do it for fun. I have done things like modify a jeep cherokee into a mobile tank turret and all for paintball games. I have a couple of friends who blow glass and forge steel items. I know bartenders who actually make drinks for people, and cooks who make food for people. I know people who can traverse terrain and shoot other humans better than most. I have known plenty of people who can play actual musical instruments quite well and form bands. You do not do any of that shit for real in games. While you were playing a rather boring game of simon says clicking on certain places on the screen or pressing certain keys in a pattern you have made nothing in this world from doing that. This is why we do not pay attention to guitar hero awards, nor do we give medals to call of duty elite. This is why gamer blacksmiths do not have any idea how to work a kiln. Your video game accomplishments are great inside video game world, but they ammount to very little out here because it does not result in any real world skills. Those people's hobbies create things that exist in this world after we pull the power from your created gamer world. That is why people out here don't really give much of a shit about your little world. We are glad you have fun there, but it is really boring to watch. That is why you do not get the audience and popularity TV or Movie people get. They present a stripped down and compacted story that you do not.
