It was an extremely boring game, far less exciting than the Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky game earlier this year. The Ruff team on the Animal Planet Puppy Bowl put on a better show. Not even the CBS 3-D diorama effect could make it interesting because a boring play in 3-D is just a better view of boring. I pity the fool who has to put together the highlight reel. "Sack, false start, and a fumble. Sack and a fumble. Punt. Punt. False start. Punt. Sack. Fumble. Punt." Trump will no doubt use it in campaign speeches about how the NFL sucks under Obama.
It's a minor miracle when the Super Bowl isn't a snooze fest. You have to deal with: 1. New turf that everyone slips on 2. New ball on every play 3. Seven feet inbounds plus maintain zero movement of the ball while rolling over to count as a catch 4. Coldplay 5. Phil Simms All in all, a great defensive performance by Denver that will be soon forgotten.
I like defensive football games. Under the coach I played for, if you won by 14-0 it was considered basically a blowout.
People do that everywhere, for reasons that are incomprehensible to the rest of us. We get 60 to 100 inches a year, yet people still react to each storm as if it is the coming apocalypse.
An entire 16 game regular season would be an order of magnitude more difficult in terms of scheduling and logistics. Some say that when visiting the U.S. the London team would probably have to play two or three consecutive away games and be put up in hotels and provided with a practice facility during that time.
Yes, quite likely, but I don't see how that makes it overly challenging. You provide the solution yourself.
I've read that London was the top site for NFL international expansion due to their facilities. But the NFL would prefer to expand to Mexico City where the estimated fan base is some three times that of London's. And they won't have the travel and time zone problems that London represents. But the Mexican facilities are not remotely up to the standard the NFL requires. Note, I had forgotten the time zone issues. IIRC, the bulk of the London games would have to be played on Sunday nights so they could air in the U.S. on early Sunday afternoon.
A London game played at 6PM GMT would fit the regular schedule, airing at 1PM EST. The travel distance between London and New York is similar to a flight from New York to San Francisco. It would work just fine if they were in one of the divisions in the Northeast of the US. The trick would be when they are scheduled for an out of division game on the West coast. That's when they might need a prolonged road trip and alternative practice facility.
I thought it was going to be a boring game as well, but I also thought it would be because it would be a blow-out.
Was anything but a snooze fest. Game wasn't decided until late in the 4th quarter. You don't watch much football I take it?
I must disagree. And I've never seen a basketball game in my life! I just root for the Broncos because I have family there. It's the law.
Probably! Speaking of black athletes, do you think Anfernee Hardaway's parents wanted to call him Anthony, but they just weren't far enough out of the tree to mouth out the word?
