Several mods have suggested recently that things should be "taken to the Help Desk". I would like to know how many Help Desk complaints have been upheld since Lanzman surrendered ownership. I think it is only right to know whether or not the current ownership and mods take the Help Desk seriously.
Do we have room for one more rep-smilie? If so, I think the "crybaby" smilie would be a good addition...
I would advise the Wordforge staff not to take any useful action as a result of this thread, as doing so could create a universe-destroying paradox.
I didn't want to get involved in this thread here, but ... Wasn't the solution in the other thread to steer with friendly warnings early, which would be pretty much the opposite of what just happened in the GB thread, where things escalated over tens of pages until one poster was suddenly picked out for no clear reason and warned for the 213th step of escalation?
Chup is a "useful idiot." He comes up with things and then, if they serve the staff's agenda, they can use him as a fig leaf to justify banning someone or whatever action they choose.
Discouragement, for one. Granted, it took a lot of ego bashing before O2C came by and explained it better and without editorializing, but in the end it is not and was not used.
I had a rash, and the Help Desk put some cream on it, and the rash went away. In conclusion, the Help Desk is good. The End.
The "legitimate question" from the "OP" doesn't actually ask an "answerable" question. See, what you're wanting to "know" is whether or not the Help Desk "serves" any function at all, or if it's just a "joke". Well, considering that the Help Desk has "existed" for many years, and that various "issues" have indeed been "addressed" in that time, the basic answer is "yes." However, your "question" is unanswerable, because what it comes down to is whether or not you have "benefited, or will benefit" in the future, by "using" the Help Desk. If after all of this time you feel you "need" to ask such a "question," then none of the previous "answers" given will be "acceptable," hence why it would be "unanswerable." It sure is "fun" using scare quotes, and doesn't make my "statement" look "petulant" or "pretentious" at all.
The OP clearly asks how many help desk issues have been addressed. Your highly amusing response doesn't change that.
