Tell me about it. Internet movie critics are pretty much a joke these days, dateless wonders with agendas and needing HOT TAKES! to get clicks.

    28% now.

Dong of Justice was 27% and Green Lantern was 26%. This hasn't even premiered yet, so we could have a new shittiest DC movie to dethrone Green Lantern.

Never mind. Batman & Robin is 11%. I don't think even Suicide Squad can be that shitty.

    Can it?

Well, realising it's separating DoJ and GL by only 1 percentage point certainly puts that metric in perspective for me. DoJ wasn't good, but that's crazy.

I'd rather watch Green Lantern over and over again than sit through more showing of BvS...

    (no spoilers)

Saw it, liked it more than expected given the reviews.

Actors are good across the board; especially liked Viola Davis as the most hard-edged Amanda Waller yet. Jai Courtney finally plays a character, and I enjoyed his performance.

    Characters are well drawn.

Leto's Joker is fun, but his role is pretty small. The Joker/Harley romance is strangely engaging. Who'da thunk the Joker could be romantic?

Not as comical as you might expect.

El Diablo is an unexpectedly interesting character.

    Some cool cameos.

Music is intrusive and sometimes cliched.

    Villain(s) a bit lackluster/silly.

The team's mission has a nice twist.

VERY simple story fleshed out with flashbacks to characters' pasts.

Stay for the mid-credits scene, which sets up the next big DC movie.

It's not a great film, but its flaws don't keep it from being enjoyable.

    6.5/10.

Just got back and it's not a bad movie. Again, the Schmoes pretty much nailed it. This movie is a lot more fun than B v S, but where was the plot? DC seems to be casting their characters very well, except for one, but can't quite make a movie like Marvel does. I liked the movie and was entertained, but the movie could have been better. Enchantress is a very interesting character and I want to see more of her. I'd say the same about Diablo. Deadshot and Harley were the main focus of this movie, that's not to say the other team members weren't useful, they were. What I really loved was Harley Quinn and she does have a Brooklyn accent, I just couldn't hear it in the trailer. I also liked Deadshot. I've always thought he was an asshole, but I like him in this movie. Killer Croc, I didn't much care for him, but I've never really liked the character. Now the one character that really didn't sit right with me at all, Mr. J. himself, he was just too serious and did some things that I felt were out of character for the Joker. There were moments that I did like with the Joker, but overall, it just felt off. That's not to say that Leto did a bad job, it just seems like he was written poorly. The flashbacks and cameos were very good and they stuck with Harley's backstory. I'm now fully convinced that a Harley Quinn movie is a good idea, she really stole the show. Overall, I did like it, but it does have some problems. B-

I feel confident in saying (for now) that this movie is more than twice as good as Batman & Robin. And almost THREE times as good as Catwoman, starring Halle Berry.

saw it, thought it was fine. No way it deserves any comparison to GL, probably marginally more watchable than the theater cut of BvS for almost anyone, but "okay" is about as glowing as I can get.

As everyone else, loved Harley, was surprised at how El Biablo came across, liked Deadshot (although for me, and I don't think this is the majority view, there was a bit too much Will Smith charm here to make it feel right - kinda took me out of the character a bit)

I loved the flashback set-up scenes, I liked the way they fleshed out the DC verse in the exposition, and was surprised how much I liked the Rick Flagg character.

I liked some of the little touches like how Joker's henchmen wore those weird costumes.

    BUT

I can find almost nothing that I liked about this conception of the Joker and now the DC verse is stuck with this hot mess. I'm okay with a quieter and more menacing take, but the grill and the tats and the fucking pimp outfits and shit is just...no, I don't buy it. I don't buy him as a guy that Batman wouldn't have curbstomped in about 20 seconds.

    It was meh.

I think every good scene was already in the trailers. The tone was all over the place. I never expected a movie about the Suicide Squad to turn into a CGI fest. That must have been Zach Snyder's doing.

The Suicide Squad/Task Force X has traditionally been made up of street level characters, so it was really a strange choice to have them go up against a supernatural enemy like the Enchantress. Not sure why DC feels the need to do this in every movie. BvS already had the premise of a titantic clash between Batman and Superman... why take focus off that for a battle with Doomsday? Similary, this movie could have worked better as an Ocean's 11 style caper. More humor, more character interactions... and less video game 'shoot up the monsters' sequences.

Margot Robbie was excellent as Harley and she had nearly every good scene in the movie. Will Smith was okay, but maybe they should have cast someone with a little harder edge to play Deadshot. Will Smith can't play a villainous role. Viola Davis was a better casting choice, she pretty much nailed the Waller character. Diablo was a suprisingly interesting/sympathetic character considering I had never even heard of him before. Captain Boomerang was utterly useless, both as a team member and as comic relief. He could have been easily cut out of the movie.

Worst casting choice... Jared Leto as Joker. He was trying too hard. Lot of animalistic growling and making funny faces for the camera but no real menace like Ledger's Joker and he never stole the scenes like Nicholson's Joker. To be fair, anyone would have a hard time living up to those iconic performances. They probably shouldn't have even tried. The Joker is possibly one of the most interesting characters in all of comic book lore, why stick him in this movie for a pointless cameo? His only purpose here was to set up Harley's backstory for people who aren't familiar with the character. He shows up again midway through the movie only to get shot down in his helicopter soon afterwards... he doesn't really do much of anything. Disappointing.

He mostly took focus away from the main story. Actually, I'm not even sure what the movie was supposed to be about. Was it really about the Suicide Squad? They spent way too much time on the Enchantress, her plot, her brother, and her relationship with Flag. Why not spend more of that time with the actual title characters?

Much was also made about the music in this movie. But it didn't really feel connected to the story like the music from Guardians Of The Galaxy. There was actually a point to GOTG soundtrack selections and they gave some insight into the characters and stuck to a consistent era/genre of music. This was just all over the place. Some Queen, some CCR, and lots of rap/hip hop/Kanye West shit. Have nothing against rap music, but just felt like the soundtrack was all over the place instead of helping to inform the story. Rapper Common had a pointless cameo in the movie.

After Green Lantern, BvS, and this one... I really think DC should just stick to animation. I don't know what their problem is. The animated Green Lantern: First Flight was way better than the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern movie. Pretty much all the DCAU Batman/Superman stories were better than BvS. And the animated movie Batman: Assault on Arkham was a much better take on the Suicide Squad than this film. Go watch that instead. Or watch the Task Force X episode from Justice League Unlimited. So much better.

I just got back from seeing it and mostly agree with Zor. A tepid effort at best. Some good laughs, Leto is not impressive as the Joker, Harley steals the movie, and Will Smith was mostly bland as Deadshot. This could have been any ensemble actioner, like another The Expendables or something. Having Enchantress as the big bad wasn't a good choice, and ultimately this whole thing is just another "Blow up a whole city to show how serious this is" mess.

C-, or four stars out of ten. Meh.

The thing that really looked stupid was the Enchantress dances moves. The Schmoes said this as well. They also pointed out the first switch to the witch with the hand thing was cool, I agree.

I've wondered for a while why they didn't put Timm's crew in power over the movie verse. I recognize that producing a movie and producing an animated video are not at all the same, but good storytelling and character development translates and that's a good foundation to build on.

Well, we've (effectively) got Affleck and Geoff Johns in creative control now.
It was too late for them to patch up Suicide Squad, but going forward, we should be in good shape.

This has been my take for a while now. Bruce Timm should be the HMFIC of the DC movies. He at least knows who the characters are supposed to be.

I've been seeing a lot of accusations of executive meddling from the studio, so it makes me wonder if there will ever be a director's cut of this movie that will make more sense.

I read somewhere (Gizmodo?) that they completely recut the movie. It was dreary and Dong of Justice Snyderesque and after Dong bombed critically they freaked. Then the funnier trailer did so well so they got the people who did the trailer to recut the movie and showed both cuts to test audiences. The recut did better so basically they released a 2 hour trailer for the movie people were watching. Talk about recursive loops.

The Jimmy Kimmel scenes cut from Batman v Superman would have undoubtedly had better critical reviews than the movie they released.

Saw it last Thursday evening at 6:00PM & in 3D.

Liked it WAY MORE than I expected to.

I went into this flick with utter & complete blinders on, as I don't pay much attention to comic books & comic book related &/or tied in media these days.

But STILL went into the theater in a cynical humour.

    I actually liked it!

If I were more "in the know" about those characters & what not, I'd probably have left the theatre irked.

Jaime Press-, err, MARGOT ROBBIE was AWESOME in this flick :D

Her character's name sounds like the name of a law firm!

There ARE silly things in & throughout this flick, like that witch hag & the way those power beings looked in what is presumably their default natural state & appearance. These are things which are no doubt the WHY of why some folks hate it.

This flick had echoes throughout it of various other movies from over the decades:
    "GHOSTBUSTERS" (1984)
    "LIFEFORCE" (1985)
    "ALIENS" (1986)
    "GHOSTBUSTERS II" (1989)

Plus other movies &/or TV shows not springing to mind pronto.

I agree about Jared Leto's Joker!

There was something "off" about his performance.

I didn't see this flick's preceding movies, like "BvS', & don't plan to either.

To those who saw "BvS" &/or other flix in this movie's universe, how would you rank "SS"?

Of the existing DCEU movies, I'd rank them:

    1. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
    2. Man of Steel
    3. Suicide Squad

BvS is one of my favorite superhero movies of all time (especially so the Ultimate Edition), and Man of Steel was very solid. I enjoyed SS, but I think it's not something I'll return to again and again over time.

I liked it. Certainly no masterpiece, they could have maybe used half of the songs that they used, the villain was so so, it did feel rushed and choppy at times and we get it Will Smith, you want to see your daughter but overall I felt this was an enjoyable, fun flick that definitely entertained me.

Certainly don't get the vitriol being thrown its way, it all seems pretty silly to me having seen the movie now.

Leo's joker was good. Not as good as ledger but good. I think if there had been more of him in the movie that would have worked well and perhaps more well received. Hopefully he's given much more screen time in the future.

Seems like Waller knows Wayne is the batman? Also she was pretty badass, good character.

Having seen the Flash, in this movie and the justice league trailer, I'm pretty on board, think he's going to be a great character.

I hope there's an ultimate edition of this like bvs, I think that would only help the movie.

Definitely a newish take on the superhero genre that I'd like to see fleshed out more in the DC verse.
