I don't get being a fanboy for one or the other like it's sports teams.
I've always been for both.
I always bought comics from both, and as a kid playing with the toys, all the heroes just hung out together.
    It was no big deal.

I grew up with DC, but I know and love Marvel. I want to see awesome films out of both (and so far am getting my wish).

So it's a bomb. I'm not surprised. Star Trek's not in good shape either. This happens when you view making a film like just producing product, and you don't write a script but "build a script" which is how Justin Lim referred to the writing process for Star Trek.

I love how BvS and Suicide Squad are considered "failures" by some people because they didn't reach a billion dollars and yet the first five Marvel movies are considered successful even though none of them came close to a billion dollars. Got to love the double standard.

By the way, what happened to Sausage eating SS lunch?

You mean the recent weekend where Suicide Squad held on to #1 in its second week of release by about $9 million? :diacanu:

Yup, a 19 million animated comedy made 33.6 opening, while SS dropped almost as much a BvS.

I know you fanboys are outraged, but it's crap. Not just DC. Marvel too. Heck, I walked out of Avengers:AOU it irritated me so much.

Star Trek Beyond is hailed by fans as terrific, mostly because it's better then Into Darkness, which is a pretty low bar.

Fact is, most tentpoles are crap.

I remember when "Captain America: Civil War", dropped 59% its second weekend, then another 52% its third, and all the Marvel execs hung themselves, and "Dr. Strange", through "Infinity War", were cancelled, and the Netflix shows were scrapped, and the comics ceased publication, and Stan Lee became a homeless bum on Skid Row eating beans over a trash fire.
    Remember that?
    Remember how sad everyone was?
    We still haven't recovered.
    It's our shared PTSD.

Oh, wait, none of that, and you're stupid.

Which is to be expected when a movie hauls in over a hundred million dollars the previous weekend. :dayton:

The movie is a success no matter how many ways you try and convince yourself otherwise.

Those Marvel movies didn't cost 1/4 billion production, and Marvel/Disney doesn't spend nearly as much on marketing. SS needed to make around 750 mil before WB saw profits, BvS needed 850 - 900 mil.

BvS was the only one of the three that had a production budget of $250 million dollars .
I find that very hard to believe as I see Marvel advertising EVERYWHERE.

Reliable source on that and no some nerdy blogger pulling numbers out of his butt doesn't count.

Which it did before home release. Very very weak excuses.

Ben-Hur not doing well with critics. SS might get a third weekend at #1. I'd bet it will be #2 at least.

The Black Ladies at Work who have taken me under their wing in an attempt to socialize me, took me to Suicide Squad on Friday when we should have been working.

Theater had electric leather recliners. Full bar. This is Regal? I don't get out enough.

The movie? Even the Vietnamese barkeep said it was horrible. He kept the drinks coming.

Speaking of suicide squad, yesterday I ran across a story about 17-year old Tiffany Baze who does some pretty frightening makup (Her Instagram)

She has two suicide-squad pictures that look good.

I think she does some of her horrible burns and wounds in the other photos with a mixture of Vaseline, white flour, and cocoa powder.

Oh, she also has a regular Instagram for her non special effects pictures, plus a couple of Youtube videos of how she does the effects.

She made quite a few news sites the other day.

Frankly, I think she belongs in front of the camera, not in a makeup trailer.

My prediction was $550-600 million. With $572 million as of today, I think it's going to (just) break $600 million. Not bad at all.
