    They're sending up smoke signals?

They're protesting white man's invention of the wheel?

They all need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Violence should not be tolerated.

Prediction is not taking credit. I would think a lawyer would know such things.

Here's the thing about this: It isn't like yesterday some Eeevil Hyperspace Bypass Company Fatcat woke up and said "I think I'm going to build a hyperspace bypass." This was years and years in the works. There were public comment periods, meetings, environmental impact statements, permits. All that happened with nary a peep. Then, after the decision had been made, suddenly it's a big deal and can't be allowed. Tough. Should have said something when you had your chance.

I mean, the plans were available for viewing and comment on Alpha Centauri for the last 50 years; now you're upset a Vogon constructor fleet has shown up to demolish the Earth?!

Yes but unlike the book the real people in this scenario have had time to have their say. Plus in the book IIRC the whole Vogon destroying Earth thing was purposely done to prevent the planet from generating the answer the mice were seeking. So they knowingly did not inform Earth until it was too late.

Do you think a group of Black Panthers would've been shown the same leniency? I don't .

That being said, if the prosecution did pass on accepting Bundy's willingness to plead guilty, they were fools. No doubt they wanted to make an example out of him, and went ahead with the case.

The offer to plead guilty--assuming it actually happened--was conditional on charges being dropped against everyone else, so it wasn't a real offer and certainly not an offer that could have been accepted.

The part that pointing out the discrepancy in justice versus what certain other radical groups would've gotten is somehow "race baiting."

Pointing out racism doesn't make one racist, no matter how much some here say it does.

Plus, as I pointed out earlier in the thread, the Standing Rock Sioux have been protesting this pipeline since learning of the plans two years ago.

Plus, you know, they actually have a coherent protest and goals that, whether or not you agree with them, are entirely plausible and reasonable.

The Bundy-led terrorist takeover of the Malheur Refuge was in no meaningful way a protest. They had no meaningful goals or demands beyond "let us graze our cattle for free; your severely below market prices are outrageously high and we demand FREEDUMB!!!!!!, so we've taken over this random plot of federal land and we'll shoot any passers-by and totally trash the place," and their actions were highly destructive rather than merely disruptive.
