Poster and trailer tease for the Mummy re-reboot, which launches the inter-connected monster universe. Full trailer Sunday. Tom Cruise is the good guy, and Sophia Boutella (sword legs in "Kingsman", Jayla in "Star Trek Beyond") is The Mummy. Looks like she's a mummy version of Akasha from "Queen Of The Damned". I'll watch it.
IM-ho-tep! IM-ho-tep! IM-ho-tep! IM-ho-tep! IM-ho-tep! IM-ho-tep! IM-ho-tep! IM-ho-tep! IM-ho-tep! IM-ho-tep!
Wasn't Tom Cruise also in 'Queen Of The Damned' as Lestat? Not sure if another Mummy movie is necessary but I'll go see it if the reviews are good. The first one with Brendan Frasier was fun. Like a spookier version of Indiana Jones.
It took me a long time to really get into The Mummy movies because I'm not a huge fan of Brendan Fraiser, but I finally came around to liking those movies. The first one is the best, I think. "Queen of the Dammed" was horrible. So far, I'm not impressed and I like Tom Cruise's movies. I hope he doesn't get roped into a shitty franchise.
The full trailer is up, and despite the fact that Tom Cruise appears to be Jebus in this, it looks like it's going to be one fucking hell of an interesting ride.
I'm skeptical of studios trying to turn every idea into a cinematic universe/franchise. How about make a good movie first? It actually makes sense for Marvel/DC to do this with their superheroes since they already share the same universe. Not so sure about these other attempts. It seems like a way to cash in on existing brands, but is there any artistic or creative reason to do this? I guess we'll see...
I like this. I also like it being an international adventure, which implies they aren't just doing the same story over again with fancy effects.
'30s and '40s, with the crossovers starting in the '40s with Frankenstein meets the Wolf Man. But including the Mummy into that overall universe is new. Unless one counts either Mad Monster Party or The Monster Squad, which I doubt Universal is.
I like the concept and Russel Crowe's character looks interesting, but Kurtzman is involved, that worries me.
My only request for this or any of the other movies...please don't forget that these monsters harken back to movies that were meant to be SCARY. A little action is fine but for goodness sakes don't turn them into run of the mill action flicks.
