Well thank you Christopher! Hopefully y'all do it again four years from now! :techman:
So since the left "created this" then man up, admit your mistake and stop crying. Not you specifically, bust the disgruntled left in general.

And, what mistake do you think that is? Because, I don't think what he means is what you mean.

I beg to differ. There are ranting Manichean shitheads on both sides of the political spectrum. Always were. Always will be.

The left didn't create THIS (the Post-Truth Age) any more than the Eisenhower/Jeffords Republicans did. The internet did.

As for Breitbart, you may find similar leftish sites, but if so, what they churn out is all bullshit -- whether right or left. And Breitbart very much does invent fake news, as Dindins showed us recently.

This guy is simply wrong that all this came from the "liberal left". We've seen fascism before. There's a rightist version (Hitler, say) and there's a leftist version (Stalin, say). But "the liberal left created this"? Absolute claptrap.

I'm referencing the opening remark in Christopher's thread. I only made it about four minutes into Pie's video - "Trump and anyone voting for him is an idiot, blah blah blah" :dayton:

Sorry the guy is a ranting twit. One of my pet peeves - if I don't like your style or attitude (or I am not intrigued or entertained by what you are trying to convey) I'm pulling the plug.

That's fine. Jonathon Pie is definitely not everyone's cup of tea. But, if you aren't going to listen, and don't know what he's talking about, it's probably best not to comment on it.

    That's British humor for ya.

The funniest part was this fictitious news reporter going off about "fake news".

I disagree - most British humor is very funny - but this guy sounds like he's doing a third-rate parody of a British comic.

while are y'all discussing this with the term "news" even in the conversation?

This is commentary. Presumably designed to be framed in comedic terms, but it's of the same vein as Bill Maher, Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, and so on and so forth.

And yes, while the make pretense of some sort of respectability, it's what Rush and Glenn Beck and Ann Coulter do too.

It's so obviously not pretending to be news that the word should never have come up in this thread other than in conjunction with "fake"as he used it in the video.

Well (just watched this) I'm on the left and it would never cross my mind to say the Caricature Rubbish that he 'quotes' as "left". I've NEVER made any such arguments, cuz (1) they're balderdash and (2) there are a host of endelssly better ones. >>> Again, there are assholes on both sides. We already knew that. So? Is that any justification for simple-mainded caricature such as Walker serves up?

I mean fuck "identity politics". Seriously, fuck it. The part Bill Clinton got right was "it's the economy, stupid".

Walker: "The idea that everybody who voted for Trump is a sexist, a racist ....." Give us a fuckin' break. Anybody who says such nonsense should be dismissed out of hand, but this guy presents it as mainstream left.

Indeed, the if-not-Sanders-then-Trump boneheads were a "telling" phenomenon. They tell us that a lot of people are stooopid.
So, Walker's "fascinated" by this phenomenon. Great. It still doesn't mean that these telling, fascinating people have two brain cells to rub together. Cuz any redneck who doan have a pot to pee in and who voted for Trump anyway suffers from a serious mental deficit.

Yes, the Dems had goddam well better figure out why ultimately having a candidate like Hillary cost them the election. This seems to be Walker's point. Well, no shit, Sherlock. (grinds teeth)

My attention span is limited (like OF, except I'm O'er). What's your take?

Of course everyone who voted for Trump is not a sexist, racist, or misogynist. A lot are. The rest are too stupid to care beyond a slogan on a hat. Yes, I'm angry that we elected a lying sack of shit for president.

No I don't think Bernie would be a better candidate than Hillary. If it weren't for a combination of Russian meddling, and our own FBI director, Hillary would have been elected in spite of her flaws.

Really? So voting for Hillary would have been a more suitable choice for them? I'm starting to think you have a serious mental deficit. Okay "mental deficit" is relative since you are a liberal and it's a prerequisite, but I digress.

I don't think so @steve2^4. There is a huge problem with the economy as it is and it affects EVERYONE who isn't a millionaire - left, right, center, or "libertarian". Hillary doesn't give a damn about the middle class. Neither does Donald, but he lied well enough to have a lot of people believe him.

Bernie offered REAL change. He knows the problems with the economy because he's been on the Senate Finance Committee. He would have not only been a much better candidate, he would have been a much better president.

Bernie was unelectable by virtue of embracing the "S" word. This isn't Europe.

Would he have made a better president than Hillary? It's possible.

(YAWWWN!) We'll see, fella, we'll see. The real crook is Trump. Hillary's merely a tuckered-out, ward-heeling hack.
If you can't grasp this, more the fool you.

That's what Hillary and her campaign thought - in the beginning. But, Bernie was electable and the Hillary campaign had to resort to dishonest tactics to ensure Hillary became the candidate.

Had she not done that, and if Donald's campaign hadn't resorted to those same tactics, Bernie would have won.

 yes, I've heard this over & over......if I don't agree with you I must be a fool. I mean the entire world can see you are the greatest political thinker of the century (if not all time) and they are :unuts: if they don't recognize your obvious superiority. Such a shame you aren't a US citizen or you could run for president and really show us "what for." Please tell us you are a US citizen so we don't lose all hope in saving our primitive society!

On this point we are in agreement. Had Bernie been the nominee Trump would have lost. People were looking for change and Hillary lacked the credibility on that front. She's been a part of the system forever and even progressives knew she was in both wall streets and big pharma's pocket. When she tried flip flopping on TPP and tried to convince people she would improve trade deals she only made herself look like an idiot.
