Dunno. my silliness meter jumped a few times in 2:32. Hard to get worked up about a possessed Kodak Carousel slide projector.
Cool... they're including Ben and the Library, the fire at the "Black Spot", the House on Neibolt Street, and "Silver". They've also made Henry, Patrick, Belch, and Vic older. Around 15-16 or so, which makes them more believable than having them as scary bullies at the same age as the "Losers". Sort of a bummer, the flowers are supposed to be roses at the House on Neibolt Street, the house in the book isn't supposed to look "haunted", they changed Bassey Park to Alden Park. But they did get the corner of Jackson and Witcham street right. And the minivan is out of place, it's a 2006 or later model.
This actually looks good. I may get over the silly Pennywise costume after all. However, what sacrifices will have to be made to force the 1000 page book into a 2 hour movie...
Oh, two-parter? Good. They're not really communicating that fact. Always found the children stuff in the book much better. I mean it is King's best for me by far.
This does look good. IT is one of the few horror movies that truly scared me and this looks fucking scary. I just hope it's good.
In the book, Pennywise created illusions, creatures, etc., and could selectively let only certain people see things. He didn't prevent people from seeing things that existed.
Many have tried, but few have ever been able to successfully capture the tone of King's work. There's a gonzo quality to the horror, which Rob Reiner and Kathy Bates understood with Misery. Kubrick's Shining also had a goofy streak, thanks to Nicholson's off the wall performance. A lot of King's stuff simply can't be translated to the screen. It works on paper, but looks silly when visualized.
Hey, shut up!! "Maximum Overdrive", is awesome and you goddamned know it!! *Fights back tears of rage* Oh God....if...you...ever....blaspheme.....that movie again...*choke*....just don't you do it.
They're not doing the child orgy. Big "no duh", there, but they figured they needed to confirm it. http://www.cbr.com/it-sex-scene-2017-movie/
Alamo Drafthouse is doing a clown only screening of "IT". What surprise of entitled victim complex scumbags will this cause butt-hurt with?
Early reviews are great!! Don't think we'll be repeating Dark Tower's performance here. http://www.darkhorizons.com/the-early-buzz-on-it-is-excellent/
If I'm a clown I don't go to that. That will be the one where clown pulls out a rifle and starts going on a shooting spree. Killer clown wipes out clown brothers!
One of my daughters saw it last night and liked it. She said the cinematography and "look" of the film was really good.
My observations about Stephen Kings works. 1) He has always had massive problems ending his stories. Massive set up but lots of failure to live up to it at the end. 2) Kings works onscreen suffer a lot when they have big name actors in them. Such as Jack Nicholson in "The Shining". Steven Weber isn't in the same class as an actor as Nicholson yet I think the tv version of The Shining was far, far more effective than the original movie "The Shining".
