http://crooksandliars.com/2017/04/secret-meeting-mar-lago-raises-questions So, on the eve of a forthcoming meeting with Colombian leader Santos to discuss US backing (and foreign aid) regarding a peace deal with the FARC, two former Colombian Presidents opposed to the deal "just happened" to be at Mar-a-Lago and bumped into Trump. Now the White House says this was just a hello: No word on which member got them access, but oddly enough Marco Rubio is strongly opposed to the deal as well and is rumoured to have organised the visit. This is where the Mar-a-Lago thing gets dodgy - folk with cash and connections can have a damn good chance of rubbing shoulders with the POTUS because he's there all the damn time, and it can be kept off-record (except for whoever got word of this one to the press). Regardless of whether the FARC deal is a good idea or not, it's supposed to be a bipartisan process but you've got Rubio pushing a pair of political gamers into Trump's path to undercut the actual President ahead of time. And we wouldn't have heard about it except for the fact that Mar-a-Lago is ALSO as leaky as an 80-year old's prostate. Neither situation is ideal, however.
The reason the previous peace attempt got voted down by Colombian voters was because the President wanted to offer amnesty to all manner of left wing criminals who had committed horrible crimes including mass murder, mass rape, and terrorism. The Colombian people demanded that those crimes not be swept under the rug and that the guilty face justice for their actions. It is very arrogant of you to tell them they are wrong and to try to dictate what happens in their own country. I guess that just means it is a day ending in "y" though.
Read my post carefully, asswipe. I've said it is up to the Colombian people, but following a bipartisan process. It should NOT be up to political powerplayers using cash for access to the US President in what was clearly meant to be a secret negotiation.
Apropos of this, apparently the State Department has been plugging Mar-a-Lago on its website.... Yep, taxpayer dollars going to adverts for Trump's business holdings.
