Tranformers: The Last Knight

I enjoyed the first 2 movies. They were popcorn flicks to be sure but they were amusing, full of good action and a plot just serious enough to want to see the end. But the last 2 had action scenes that strained credibility. And let's face it, I was giving them a ton of leeway as it was.
But really, Mark Wahlberg shouldn't be allowed to make anymore movies. Horrible hack! You know it's bad when your longing for the return of Shia LeBouf.

Which is all studios seem to care about anymore.

And that is exactly what the reviewers are saying you will get.

Mark Wahlberg is not the problem, but I agree with the rest.

Three words: Free market, baby. Studios have always cared about making piles of cash, but until recently, the only place they could really do that was the US. Now that there's big profits to be made in China, that's where they're going to target the movies for. Just wait until other industries adopt the same attitude, and features wanted or needed by folks in places like the US are an afterthought, if they're even there at all.

Here's a spoiler-laden review if anybody's interested. Note that it doesn't help you make sense of the movie, because there's none to be made, but at least you'll have some idea of what happened in the film.

I've already spoiled myself on this movie since I'm not going to watch it.

These films have all been garbage in my opinion.

The first one had some novelty to it but even that one is a struggle to watch because of the obnoxious human characters.

At least Mark Wahlberg is more entertaining than Shia Labeouf. Can't stand him or any of his movies.

My wife and I went to see it. Mainly because nothing else was showing that either of us really wanted to see.

To me it was more of the same. The only remotely good Transformers movie being the first one and as said above, lots of it was novelty. Another was the relative simplicity of both the plot and the action.

Surprisingly, my wife liked it quite a bit. She even said she wanted to get it when it comes out on DVD. When we went home she got out the DVD of the first movie (only one we have) and watched that. Our daughter went to see a much later showing and also seemed to like it.

Makes me wonder why and what I didn't get. About all I cared for was the sequence near the beginning where the anti Transformers mechs were seen. Looks like good footage to include in a live action Battletech movie.

Probably because they're not invested in the Tranformers franchise because they didn't grow up watching the show?
