yes Anna, that's the problem! Here I thought the problem was blacks have a 100 times greater chance of being shot by another black than by a cop - that's what I get for trusting statistics, facts & math in general to set me straight. Math is so racist - let's ban it!
are you honest-to-god fucking KIDDING ME? White people get attacked, harmed & occasionally killed by minorities on a regular basis in nearly every city across the US. Why don't you google some statistics about it....wait, your bubble might be burst, better not do that. Do you live under a rock? Have you ever left the security of that rock? Do you live rent free in the rock's basement? That said, minorities mainly attack other minorities because (most likely) they interact with them more often. All demographic groups attack each other more than outsiders, nothing new there. But if you're a white person living, working or visiting a minority neighborhood and get attacked all you will get is from law enforcement and the media. You might get a U-HAUL advertisement in your mail box, but that's about it. You know what, fuck it.....are you even from this planet?
agree those slave whipping pictures are ridiculous. Nobody thinks slavery is a good idea - I don't think you'll get any argument for pro-slavery.
Yes, corporations should get their free labor from prisoners and Taiwanese children like proper civilized people.
Can you provide links to corporations in the United States in the modern era (convict labor was a major issue in this state in the first decades of the 20th century) having prisoners work for them for free?
Couldn't just fucking Google? https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2015/09/prison-labor-in-america/406177/ http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/10/prison-labor-strike-history-heather-ann-thompson/
David Duke is no longer a wizard, but he was still cheering those fuckers on at the rally. Try again.
You expect me simply to ignore personal experience? Amazing. When it comes to military experience IIRC you and most others here put personal "anecdotal" experience above and beyond all research.
There is a fundamental difference between promoting equality and promoting racial supremacy, and like it or not supremacy is an essential part of the concept of whiteness. Pro-white = anti-equality. There is nothing wrong with honoring European cultural traditions, but there is also no reason these traditions can't be divorced from the false and toxic belief in whitness and white supremacy.
Hmm. Wonder why that might be? Let's see, what's the alternative to being on a work detail? Oh, yeah, sitting around in a tiny cell, staring at the walls all day, doing nothing.
Of course. That is kind of the point. Poor alternatives does not make someone a slave though. There are more than a few who would not apply for work details and that was their choice.
Nobody can be forced to work in absolute terms. What makes slaves work is that the alternative is worse punishment.
While I will admit to not doing a google search, I'm pretty certain that inmates who refuse to go on work details are not tortured or killed.
Man you are stupid. From experience prisoners will do anything to pass the time. Just because they will work nearly for free does not mean we should be giving jobs that could pay well to a free person to them. One of the biggest job killers in the us is private prisoner employment taking jobs from law abiding Americans and returning no wages to forward the economy. Also if you did pay them a decent wage while inside you would find less return to prison because they have the means to survive and be employed outside of prison when released. So you are not even doing them any real favors by employing them inside. Now shut the fuck up.
Question: did Aristotle consider himself white? How about Julius Caesar or Charlemagne? Leonardo da Vinci? Did whiteness make up any part of their self-image or personal identity? The answer of course is no. The concept of a "white" race didn't even exist during their lifetimes. So why do white supremacists claim such people as part of their fictional "white" heritage?
A.c.rally Dayton is wrong in that description as many prisoners face solitary and punishment if they do not work. You can get tossed into a deaper hole, you can lose your belongings, you can lose visitation, you can lose earned early release, you can lose the shit food they give you for a loaf of crap, and they can pretty much fuck with you in any way they want. So yes there is punishment for not working, and you cannot leave the prison system for another prison system like a slave could not leave the plantation. You belong to the state as property without rights as a prisoner. So yes it is slavery.
It makes no sense to pay inmate workers decent wages because they are already being provided with all the necessities of life for free with no regard to whether they work or not. And I find it extremely amusing at people in the above links making an issue of some prisons being former plantations. There are highly practical reasons for this that have nothing to do with inmate labor being used. In one Arkansas county where I lived for many years the County jail farm program worked with inmate labor has been immensely popular. It not only enables inmates to get outside but it has reduced food costs at the huge jail and given inmates a much larger variety of foods than they would have otherwise. Note, I went through that jail a number of times for background check fingerprinting.
I don't have the ability to read the minds of individuals now long dead, so how would I know? However, given the specific aforementioned examples, I would suppose they did not merely for the fact that they may have seldom, if ever, interacted with non-white individuals. If the answer were so self-evident and a resounding "No," the particular set of recent events would never have transpired. Well, because those people are a part of white people's heritage regardless.
Question for leftforge. Are you at all SHOCKED, or LET DOWN by who's turned out to be armchair civil rights attorneys for Nazis? Have you at any point in this or the other 3 or so threads thought to yourself "OH NO!! NO SO-AND SO!!! NOT SO-AND-SO!!! NOOOOOO!!! ". I'm gonna preemptively guess a big fat "no", that. I'm willing to be proven wrong.
And here's another one who thinks the First Amendment is not for everyone but is too dumb to imagine a situation where the government might decide he is one who should be shut down from speaking.
