The people who can't grasp the concept want some kind of totalitarian state where only good thinking citizens are allowed to have a gun. And @ Anna, you hoping I was shot says all I need to know about you. You can go fuck yourself, you piece of shit.

Was there a background check? It would seem his general court marshall would have raised flags on any background check.

I don't believe that statistic. The devil is in the details. How many of these are
Why don't you believe me? I know how to run you know. Most kids today don't and simply rely strictly on natural ability.

I think they call anything over 4 people being killed a mass shooting. In that case, Chicago has a mass shooting every week. But no one can say anything because that would be rayciss.

Definitely. I've bought several firearms from the same chain and there's always a background check.

If he bought it from any Federal Firearms License Retailer, a background check must be performed. Not ifs, ands, or buts about it. So yes he bought this from Academy Sports. A background check was run. For some reason he did not come up as a prohibited person intelligible to make a purchase. He knew he was prohibited and gambled that he could beat the system and in this case he won that gamble. This is not the first time this has happened. Look at the church shooting the other year. Same thing. He was never flagged. So who isn't sending the data to the feds or who at the feds isn't entering the data into the system? The calls for a so called universal background check system are a farce.

That’s actually a myth. The vast majority of spree-type shootings have been carried out by somebody who had a reputation as “that crazy guy obsessed with guns who always talked about how he wanted to shoot a bunch of people.”

The Far Right is burdened with conflicting narratives here. On the one hand, it's a white guy who killed a load of people, so that means it's obviously either a false flag carried out by the Deep State or it never actually happened and everybody in that town is a crisis actor. On the other hand, a good guy with a gun intervened possibly saving lives, which means it obviously did indeed happen.

Which will it be? That's gonna cause a lot of sleepless nights. :(

Wow, you are stupid, aren't you? We are talking about a person who cannot legally buy a gun who walked into a store and bought one because no sufficient background check was done which showed he had a general court marshall.

What is your major malfunction which prevents you from understanding that?

Then there is most certainly a problem with background checks.

If we had better background checks then we could really put a dent in all those murders in Chicago.

The Bad Conduct Discharge is fairly moot, I think. It's not a Dishonorable Discharge, so it's not counted as a felony. It all depends on what the USAF actually charged him with. A misdemeanor Domestic Violence charge would certainly prohibit him from possessing a firearm, or even ammunition, under the Lautenberg Amendment. However, if the USAF charged him with assault, and not DV...

Edit: It looks like the UCMJ doesn't have a Domestic Violence clause or charge. It's all handled under the simple "Assault" charge. So, even with the BCD, he wouldn't be prohibited from possessing a firearm. Way to go, DoD.

So apparently his domestic violence conviction, for which he served one year, did legally bar him from owning a firearm, however, Texas relies upon the honor system where gun buyers are allowed to self report if they have a conviction or not. Wtf?

He just checked the box saying no he hasn't been convicted and they gave him the gun.

In California they catch these people and they can't have keep the gun until the holding period is over. What is wrong with Texas?
