have you ever actually hunted or know people who hunt? You certainly sound like you only have a vague idea of what it actually entails. Have you ever actually spent much time in the outdoors observing a variety of wildlife?

Basic common sense. If you kill off all of this year's ducks, there won't be any baby ducks born so you can kill them next year.

But common sense doesn't seem to be the gunnists' strong suit.

That's not a gun law; that's a hunting regulation, just like saying "you can't hunt ducks before this date" or "this is the period in which you can hunt deer with a bow, and this is the period in which you can hunt them with a firearm." It has nothing to do with what you can own.

And since "people hunting" is always illegal, there's no need for a law stating how many rounds you can load for it.

and another person who doesn't understand duck hunting (hell ducks in general) or ballistics or hunting in general. BTW limiting the number of rounds in a shotgun is pointless anyway because a few seconds after the shit hitting the fan AKA the ducks have detected you and are in "get the hell out of dodge" mode, they will be out of range anyway. You could have a shotgun loaded with 100 rounds if such a gun was made and it would be useless after about three or four seconds anyway. The same with deer hunting - it would make no sense to carry a 30 round magazine because (usually) deer instantly haul ass the second they hear the shot, especially if they are hit with that shot (or double/triple tap). And all the deer traveling with that deer haul ass too so you aren't going to mow down a whole herd. Humans are that rare species who often collapse when they are shot, instead of hauling ass instantly even if mortally wounded.

I don't think for one second that any such confiscation plan would ever happen - if gun control that strict ever came to the US it would include grandfathering existing gun ownership for the most part.

My guess is that you simply wouldn't be able to buy ammo anymore. Once what you had on hand was gone, you're left with a display piece (or obtain ammo on the black market)

No, my "wet dream", is the same as a conservatives.
I'd LOVE a world where you can eat a billion cheeseburgers and never get heart disease.
A world where you can pump tons and tons of smoke and soot into the air, and it doesn't have consequences.
Where you can pump heavy metals into the water, and it just magically vanishes, and doesn't hurt anyone.
Where beating on people with shame, and fists, and billy clubs turns them into better people.
Where you can arm fucking everyone, and it makes crime go down.
Where you can French-fry people in an electric chair, and it scares the other criminals into behaving.
Where you can trust the rich to invest in this country, instead of slurping it into offshore accounts.

    But it's just a dream.
    None of it fucking works.
    None of it.
    It's all a failure.
Because it's just a wet dream.

Sad that we've had to go down this road again.

I agree with Paladin's interpretation of the current law. That doesn't mean I have to like it, nor does it mean it can't be changed. I'll do what I can to legally change it.

(Which doesn't involve arguing with you yahoos.)

I had not read much about this until today. He was stationed at my old base in the NM dessert. It's one of those places that is considered a continental US assignment but really is a remote assignment. They should have just drove him out there in the desert and told him to get the hell out. No sense in letting someone that crazy back in civilized society.

    That's not an Airsoft gun.

That's a Glock with a modified slide and grip and a Red Dot sight on the gun. The sights are suppressor sights so you have a backup in case the Red Dot fails. The sights have to be tall enough to see through the Red Dot. Standard sights are too short.

Glock and most gun manufacturers are starting to make slides now with a cutout in order to place a Red Dot if you want one so you don't have to have the standard slide milled to accept one.

If you do a search on YouTube for Red Dot Pistols you will see lots of videos on the subject.

    I'd like to get one.

Army chief of staff admits to ‘significant amount of omissions’ in reporting crimes to FBI

The man who killed 26 people in Sutherland Springs, Texas, was able to buy a gun because the Air Force didn’t report his violent history. Now, a top U.S. Army general said his branch of the military has the same problem.

Gen. Mark Milley, the Army chief of staff, admitted that “10 to 20 percent” of Army criminal cases don’t get relayed to the FBI.

“We have a significant amount of omissions,” Milley said. “There are gaps and failures on our part.”

This is not a new problem, although the Texas shooting has brought it to the forefront for tragic reasons.

An inspector general’s report said each service branch had significant failure in sharing data and trial results–back in 1997.

I covered this already a week or so ago. Being military I am authorized to say from experience the reason is THEY DON'T GIVE A FUCK.
You have a huge organization where nobody can get fired for lackluster job performance once they have been working there for a while - this applies to military and government service workers alike. Factor in the military doesn't like to air their dirty laundry to the public. I work and play on Fort Gordon and I still don't know about major scandals, snafus, crimes and whatnot unless I read the local civilian news sources - and that information has to be reluctantly pried out of the military most of the time. So no surprise that they won't even share VITAL information to the FBI or other government agencies.

So here's what will happen - the army (can't speak for the other branches) will act like it's the first time they are aware of the problem, then make everyone involved go to classes and extra training, to fool themselves (because nobody else buys their bullshitting) into thinking they fixed the problem. There will be no "long term" accountability because THEY DON"T GIVE A FUCK.
