Supposedly the package that went to the Latino family was addressed to another house but delivered to the wrong address. It was the home of an elderly Latina widow in her 90's and her 75 year old daughter who was visiting picked up the package and that is when it exploded.

The interesting part is going to be who was on the perspective target list and then trying to see what they have in common.

I know enough about gay professionals to know as the salaries rise and the careers get more serious they become a lot more careful about who knows about their out of work activities. Of course, given how corporate America likes to search into social media a lot of straight people don't allow their drinking and partying to get back to their job either. I have known quite a few people who do not like being tagged on social media at parties and social events and it rises when the parties are gay in nature. Gays have seen too many people get canned because something came out, and human resources and anti gay managers have become aware of how to make sure the message gets around without leaving evidence form a lawsuit or working in a state where glbt protections are not present in the state government or even may be allowed through religious freedom protection legislation. Austin may be better than the rest of Texas, but you are still in Texas. Not every person wants to risk their financial success on their neighbors backing them when it counts.

Austin may be quite the lovely haven for gays but it is still in a sea of bigotry and bullshit. I would not recommend any gay person trust a snake in the grass Texan with their livelihood.

Birmingham is a lovely city in the middle of Alabama, but you don't go too far out of the city and you are in the back country. This idea that Austin is much more than a tiny oasis where you might be better off is not something that can be fully trusted. That is because even if thermal be some allies there you still have a ton of shit wandering into that city to work. When you are on the receiving end of prejudice you are alone in your problem because no one wants to get the beating with you. You better know you are safe before coming out in Austin especially now that all the shit has been stirred up on the right.

Thanks for the people who don't have to worry about prejudice telling us Austin is a great place because you do not ever have to deal with it or fear it. But I tell you what. I do have some friends in Austin and I have been meaning to see them for a while. Maybe you want to go meet me there sometime. Maybe you want to walk down the street with me and we can take some pictures together and you can go posting them on your social media and show them off at work and find out how full of shit I am. Maybe you have a lot of trust in your people, and maybe you know some decent people, but I bet you don't want to go putting your money where your mouth is and I would not recommend it. Let us just say people who think that others around them are not prejudiced often find out something new about their environment.

A supposed family friend who knew the bomber when he was a teenager (he was 23 when he died) has said they guy was shy and once complained he had few friends. I imagine that is a common problem with home schooled kids.

His dad bought an old house and the two of them fixed it up, he lived there, and rented out two rooms for extra money. ABC News says in the video the guy described all seven bombs "with a level of specificity" that confirms he built them. They also say there was no mention of terrorism or hate just a lot of complaining about how his life sucks.

There is still a possibilty his internet history or his list of potential targets might reveal more but so far no hint of white supremacy. I wonder if @Anna is feeling she might have jumped the gun earlier?
