I don't trip myself up saying a middle eastern person who does a terrorist thing isn't a Muslim. I realise that is probably the case if the person is middle eastern. In the case of white people they are almost always conservative and subjected to religious values if not religious. That does not define them all. Adam lanza was autistic and the Virginia tech shooter was Asian for example. But when it is a white person and it is not some criminal or domestic shooting we are often seeing it is white wannabe victims. The white guys who are not making it and who are blaming others for their situation and reacting to the idea that everyone is attacking them. I would say some of what is considered gang crime could possibly be more related to terrorism rather than being about an actual criminal enterprise. My life is fine and I do not consider myself a failure even though others may. Tererun when you talk about Texas you sound like those Europeans on other boards who act as though Texas is another planet. Texas is pretty much like most places in the south though they are somewhat arrogant given Texas's history as an independent nation (however brief) and special status it gets as a state (Texas from what I've read gets to have more control over energy sources produced in state in relation to other states, which is one reason Texas has a separate power grid from the rest of the country).

Not to mention that like most large states, the different regions of Texas are as different from each other as though they were other states entirely.

What really pisses me off is the right wing keeps falsely claiming the government pays for abortions when they do not, they have not, within weeks of Rove v Wade we had the Hyde Amendment which prevents that yet Christians keep lying and pretending it does happen.

Hell, at least the latest omnibus bill FINALLY gets ride of the Dickey amendment which was an NRA backed rule from the 1990's which prevented the CDC from funding ANY research into gun violence. That was classic right wing bull shit where they know facts and truth are not on their side so they try to block honest research because they fear the results. I remember so many gun debates back in the 90's where NRA backers would demand research, then say "that research is six year old, show me new ones", knowing full well the NRA corruptly outlawed and new research at the national level. Their other game was "that study only covers one state; I want a national study" knowing national studies were against the law so all we could get were state funded studies. They are so dishonest.

Anyway, by Friday the Dickey amendment will be gone and that is a very modest thing but a great thing for truth, objectivity, and reality.
